I had those tyres on my 96 spec DC2 they were the best shoes i've had on a car as of yet!

I'd take a 5, 6(maybe),7 or 8 to be honest so like you say I'll find the cleanest I can.

I'm signed up to the Lancer register now so will stick a wanted ad up. Not driven a sorted car for over a year now it's long over due!

Aim for a 5/6 you'll lose some of the budget/cleanness going newer.

Bring your helmet to blyton mate I'll take you round.

Back with a small update :D

Been slowly adding and tinkering with the car over winter, to be fair IV done loads but not really took many pics over the period.

Cars been off the road all winter to keep it rust free and allowed me to tinker with it and change a few things.

After the eventful Nurburgring trip last year where I had to have an 8 turbo fitted in next to no time, and then the Air Con exploding on the ring :disgusted:
IV been itching to get some jobs done!

Supamario gave me his old 6 turbo (thanks you legend),to replace the 9.8t 8 turbo that was fitted, and it was time I stripped all the air con out and pipes.

Not the best pics but here goes

So started t strip down the engine bay, rad out (yes at night time )

During this I realised if I took the front bumper off I'd have much better access to everything so got on with that and the next day I had the car looking like this

Once the turbo was off found a few niggles, don't know if it was to do with the rush job of the turbo swap, or like it before so not blaming anyone. Found the turbo gasket in this state, was badly overlapping too, it's the wrong shape really.

Also there wasn't a down pipe gasket at all  been wondering why the car sounded like it was blowing a bit at the front  but at least now I know it will be all better when I've finished.

Whilst it was out it was time to get rid of the AC. it's a fun job knowing your stripping plenty of weight out the front end :D. Took everything out of the engine bay, all pipes, pump, radiator, fan and the cradle thing, came in at a total weight of just over 18kgs

(Weed killered the drive after this )

On to today i finished off changing my SSQV into a recirc valve, bought a recirc conversion kit off eBay and some new hoses, got it looking like this now.

I've had to delete the SAS system as one of the threads on the the valve itself decided to lose its thread, not that I mind it's much cleaner looking without. Used two Renault megane sump plugs to block the manifold up.

In two minds to run this or DV deleted
Also needs a good clean once it's together.

Whilst the bumper was off I decided I wanted to sort the intercooler out. It was blacked out and looking a bit tired, was ok though, this was taken a couple years back at nurburgring

I used paint strippers and covered the IC a few times over and got all the paint off, then went for a change and painted it with a metallic silver paint, came out looking like new!
Also re sprayed all the mesh on the bumper

Result

All in all a good little session on the car :D

Just waiting on a new banjo bolt for the block to turbo oil feed then its oil and filter change, coolant refill and new filter. Gapped the new plugs and fitted them already.

Got some more cool stuff to get on the car before blyton on the 6th of aug so will try and take plenty of pics to show my work

Thanks for looking

Dan

Mini update

Cars back together, oiled up and full of coolant! Had it running today too :D

Spent most of the day giving the car a clean, tidying wires and fitting the new battery

Gonna finish it tomorrow, but got this far

Not long till it's back on the road!

Battery install complete :D

Used a thinner gauge wire than the e46 battery cable, it weighed a tonne:wtf: all working fine, even managed an inline kill switch.

Box full of stuff not going back in :whistling: 20kgs worth!

Shiny pic after a good clean, missing a few parts that I'm waiting to come back

One more of the bay after a good spruce up

Thanks for looking :D

Had the afternoon off today so got on with a few bits :D

I ordered some plumbers pipe freeze spray to remove the sound deadening from the car.

I'd failed miserably with a heat gun over winter (although it worked well on the rear wheel arch stuff) it's just went like tar and lumpy.

It worked epically removing the sound deadening easily, BUT one whole can was £12 and used up after removing less than 12" squared :hm:

So did some research and got on the trail of Dry Ice

Ordered 10kgs worth and it arrived today.

So seats out and time to get on with removing the stuff.

I went for the 16mm pellets and lobbed em in the car while I took the first seat out.

After a minute or so I could here the sound deadening pulling away from the metal.

Moved the dry ice to the side a few bangs with the hammer and I've never seen sound deadening come away so easy!

It's was coming up in dinner plate size clumps. Within an hour I had passenger and driver sides looking like this

There was a few stubborn areas, so just left some dry ice on there longer and off it came

After a good Hoover and wipe down with 3 cloths progressively getting cleaner.
It looked like this

Well happy may just leave it like that, chequer plate or paint. Not made my mind up yet.

Next up was fitting the carbon goodies diffuser :D

I've screwed mine to the car as it's track use mainly, got some black screws coming and some tiger seal too for double strength. Really smartened up its bum (crap pics as it was getting dark and yet to refit the exhaust)

All in all a good afternoon

Next stop is map tweek then it's Blyton :D
