Scooby dooby DONT !!!!

A couple of month back before my car was chipped i was having a little spin out with a few friends when a bright yellow bannana looking scooby pulled up alongside me revving the engine next to me to impress the fat bird he had sitting in the passenger seat and the chav in the back, so we both went for it and he pulled slighlty ahead due to me crunching a gear i soon caught him up and nearly pissed myself laughing when i saw the fat bird screaming at him to slow down and prodding him in the face i got a few car lengths ahead of him only to scream alongside a white focus with a lovely shiney police badge on the side all i can say is they musnt have been checking there mirrors to my relief !!!

driver getting prodded by a fat bird

Some mothers do 'ave em heh!!!

I remember a similar incident where the driver got a solid slap in the face!

I was at a set of traffic lights in Warrington and a 3 series BMW pulled up beside me. As I glanced over the driver was mouthing something so I wound the window down asked "what was that"???
He said "that's a nice car mate, you wanna swap for mines and me missus"???

He got the sickest slap in the face that I have ever seen. Believe me I have trawled all the Happy Slap vid's that are out there and this one was a prize winner indeed!!

After a couple of seconds of laughing my socks off, I replied "If you throw in a bag of chips you got a deal buddy;);)

The lights turned green and when parted company.

Just as soon as we have had a reply from every member that wants to participate.

This allows you ample opportunity to post another fine day in the life....., don't forget, the more listing that you provide, the greater the odds of you winning. Simple stats really!!!

The first decal will get cut next week end so I guess that we have to wait until then.

I will be starting a new thread tonight or first thing in the morning that will have the 2 short listed designs attached.

NICK the super star wants to get feed back on what you all think and if there is any room for improvement.

After all, we are all this boat together right!!!!

Nothing too fancy from me i'm afraid.

I was in my current E6 RSII when it was just a forged 2.0, with a set of S1 cams and a TME turbo fitted, pushing 415bhp @ 1.7bar peak.

Just had the car washed, and was on my way home, which involves going down a couple of dual carridgeways.

As I got onto the first bypass a nice clean looking silver bugeye sti pulled up by the side of me, and gave the nod.

As we approached a roundabout, he indicated onto a bypass going the opposite way to me, but as it was a nice sunny sat afternoon and and there was little traffic about, I felt it was rude not to follow.

As we got onto the bypass, he booted it, and I did too, and nearly drove into the back of him (had to tap the brakes),he finally pulled over to the left lane, and I pulled past him without any issue's, pulling around 4 car lengths on him, as I approached 7750rpm in 5th the gap remained about the same.

We pulled off the dual carridgeway at the same junction, and got to the roundabout at the top, he looked over with a smile and gave another nod (as if to say fair play).

I then turned off to go on my way home, I decided to take it easy and let the car cool down, as the oil temp was sat around 110°c at this point.

So I was cruising along nice and gently, and when the oil temp finally dropped to around 85 / 90°c all seemed fine, untill I stopped at a junction and went to pull off again, when I could hear a strange noise.

Anyway when I investigated the noise, it turned out I had a journal bearing )from a previous Evo 9 turbo that had failed),had been in the sump for a couple of months, and it appeared that when doing 7750rpm in 5th, I had picked this bearing up in the oil, thrown it around the crank, breaking it up, and therefore contaminating the oil, and that caused my engine to wipe out 2 bigends :(

Still atleast I beat the scooby :D

I would like to take this opportunity to let every know that if they experience turbo failure and find anything appears to have broken off the turbo upon inspection then it would be a wise decision to remove the sump and clean it out completely.
At the very least an oil change is in order.

An old trick that allot of guys in Birmingham do is attach large speaker magnets to the base of the sump, It helps attract all types of filings to gather and settle in one place and keep away from the big end bearings etc.
Then every so often they drain the oil completely and give it a mineral based flush then remove the sump and give it a right old clean out and replace the oil and filter.

If you were to do this you WILL notice what has gathered in the sump.

Quakes has a mate who just had his Scooby forged and only a few days ago his engine had to be scrapped due to these filings!!!

The only reason I didn't drop the sump on that occasion (when the E9 turbo failed),was because it just seized up, as in was 100% perfect 1 min and the next second it just stopped

When I removed it, the blades wouldn't turn by hand or with a socket, however everything looked 100% intact, so figured it was just bad luck (oil pressure and temps were normal).

Was only around 3 months later when I heard some knocking, that I realised what had happened.

It happens Russ, even to be the best of us buddy.

I had a Pulsar some time ago and a similar issue occurred when my Hybrid T28 seized up on me. I replaced it with a GT30 but did not drive the car as I was using my III (that was and still is my once every 2nd Sunday car weather permitting) and loving it!!!

Anyway, the guy we use for recons got in touch with me when he finally got round to looking at it and when he told me that the roller bearing was missing I was so glad I had not fired the car up and that I had magnets on the sump!!

Wish i'd known about the speaker magnet trick before, hopefully won't need to use it now, as I gave up on the stock frame turbo idea this time and went for a GT35 :D (and magnetic sump plug lol).

Yeh, round here there is alot of uneven road and speed bumps, so I can't imagine a speaker magnet would stay in place for long anyway

iv just thought of simit else, i was driving home one night about 12 from my girlfriends. i was really low on petrol and only had enough to get home and then to the petrol station the next morning.

i got about half way home and was on a dual carridge way when a scooby got right up my behind, i didnt do anything as i really wasnt sure i was gona get home on what i had left in the tank. after a few minutes of tail gating me he then pulled into the fast lane (normally referred to as the evo lane) and pulled along side me, he kept along side me starring into the car. i looked forward and kept going (everything was telling me to drop down a gear and apply my lead boot but i couldnt) he then over took me.

i got to the end of the dual carridge way and up to the roundabout, who was sitting there............. mr scooby man. he turned left and i was going straight over. it wasnt until a few seconds later i realised i had gone left and was showing the scooby what the back of my car looked like at a distance! something took over! the next petrol station was four miles away!

as i approched the petrol station my baby started coughing, i got to the pump and it died. £40 later she was running again and the scooby had only just pulled in! he was not a happy bunny!

And The Winner Is......................

Again, apologies for getting back to y'all later then advertised but something came up. I must say there are quite a few good accounts here of what transpired, ultimately resulting in some one getting Evo'd!!!

The one that put a right smile on my face and has stuck in my mind since reading it has to be following:

this is going back to last summer, i was driving down to bognor with my brother and we were following his girlfriend in her honda jazz!! we were going down to her student halls and staying there over the weekend as neither of us have been uni students but felt we needed to give the student life a go just for the weekend.

we wern't driving that fast as i didnt know where i was going but we had just blasted through the tunnel on the A27 (it needed to be done with the windows down!!!!) i had over taken a golf gti through the tunnel but hadden thought anything of it, i had slowed back down and let my brothers girlfriend take the lead again when the golf got up my backside flashing his lights and beeping his horn.

i couldnt be bothered to do anything as all he want me to do was blast it up the road and try and keep up with me so i paid no attention. he over took me and then slowed right down so i had to over take him, this happened four or five times before we got to a set of red traffic lights and i was in front of him. he sat there reving his engine and waving his hand in the air as if to say rev mine.

i have i straight through exhaust, boost controller and the engine was running a little rich so i reved it up and let off and then back on again waiting for that moment i knew was coming............................ the nice hot blue flame that came out and reached about a meter. he sat there beeping his horn and laughing.

what he didnt know was he was close enough for the flames to reach his front bumper and burn it!!!!!

i deffinatly think he had been evo'd after he noticed the new black patch i gave him on his rubber band car!!!

WELL DONE FINGERS, PM YOUR ADDRESS SO I CAN GET ONTO IT FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING BUDDY!!!!

I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to participate and I hope that you will all continue to add to this thread for years to come so that every one can get a piece of your action;)

As I did say originally when I started the thread "Keep them as detailed as possible and the one that sounds like it has given the best representation to the Evo will get the very first owners decal sent out free of charge." I had to really think about it!!!

As I am a wise old man, I have decided to Award a second place too which is only as there can not be a joint first place.

COSSIE1, I will also be sending you out a custom decal, WHICH I know you deserve as you truly represent the Evo scene which you have demonstrated with your knowledge and the sick looking ride you have too!! Or should I say rides, after all the EVO I RS is still a machine and a half, I have first hand experience in knowing what it is as I have had 2 in the past.

Please PM me your address too buddy.

Well done to both of you guys as well as every one else too!!!!
