Had a bash at fitting the rear strut brace! First Evo i've owned with one and i thought i'd get a cusco one. If anyone's ever fitted one of these you'll hopefully agree at how straight forward it is, even with japanese instructions :crackup:

I just didn't feel right about drilling the boot floor, but oh well

So, all the stuff where i can see it

Ralph popped along to see what i was doing and to tear up my useless instructions

All in place and bolted right up

A member from over the road has offered me the entire boot interior trim for £50, so going over this weekend, HOPEFULLY, to go and get it

This week i got the delivery from Evolution Solutions Some nice choice parts sorted Big thanks to Paul Byrne for the rocker cover as well as Paul and Ruth for their patience with my requests

Fitted the shifter bushes and all i can say is WOW! Everyone must get these for their Evo! The rubber bushes on the cars as standard are shite.

Went to my local hydraulics place in town and i got these for £10 I also chatted to them about possibly making up my hoses as well as crimping and they would do it for less than £15 As they've been very competitive with price and quality, i'm tempted to get them to make up my new fuel lines too when i move the fuel pump into the boot.

Fitted my cam position sensor head shield

With everything pretty much back to how it was, i decided to try and start the car. Took all the plugs out, the fuel pump relays under the dash out and turned the car over to get the oil pressure back to normal, after about 6 seconds of turning it over the light went out Put the plugs back in, relays back in, coil packs on and kept my fingers crossed. Well, this is where it got interesting... The car wouldn't start. Just turned over. Bugger. So, had a look at the throttle body, and as its a new S90, i didn't have an idea of where to set things, so screwed the idle speed valve out about 5 turns and gave it another go, it fired a few times and really wanted to start but alas. Coming to the end of my fuse i tried to start it with a tiny bit of pressure on the throttle pedal and finally she started!! A bit lumpy at first but that's a positive outcome Wound the idle speed valve out a little and gave it a few turns on the butterfly adjuster and she started and ran at 2000rpm, hunting a little but eventually smoothed out to 1200rpm The biggest thing i've got out of this is that the car will hold its idle now!! It ran at idle for AGES and i could get out the car, walk about and check for leaks which there weren't

I have now got an issue with the ABS light. It comes on when you start the car then goes out, as per usual, but after about 7 seconds it comes back on again and stays on. The car hasn't moved but i think i may have disturbed something. How do you recall the code without MUTII?

Abs fault should be simple, just go to the obd port under steering colum. With a short bit of wire insert one end into pin 1 and the other into pin 4. They are labled if you look close enough. Then turn ignition on and count the number of fast and slow flashes the abs light gives. Think the long flashes are tens and the short ones units

Tried it and it just continually flashed indicating no fault. I'm tempted just to drive it and wait for the code to come back or find someone with Evoscan up here, which is like trying to find a needle in a haystack

Cheers gents Sorted the ABS issue out, turns out the AYC accelerometers have an internal earth on them, so had to re-fit them. Light went out as soon as i started the car

Next step!! Thanks to Tooty for the boot trim, even though i did miss a bit (you can see what its missing at the bottom of the picture). I did a little trimming and some dremel work

The car has little fuel left, so took her for a blast to the nearest Shell garage (20 miles away!!!!) The car was still filthy so gave her a full detail Engine bay is still waiting for some bits to finish it off. The number plate plinth is still to be fitted, its been cut down waiting for the new plate.

looks spot on mate boot looking good the missing trim will be sorted it dnt look too bad and think of the weight ur saving

glad ur abs is sorted, ur mirrors are growing on me too not usually a fan but i think its the right car for those ears.

im thinking about m3 style ones with the indicators on for mine but im not too sure as they are a fair bit smaller and dont retract hmmmm

I did a photoshop of them in black and it looked chavvy. I'm happy with the outcome though I think i need new wheels, would like something a little wider to take 255 tires, i'm wheel spinning in 2nd gear

M3 style?!!?! Its an evo, not a saxo!

In the end, how often do you REALLY adjust your wing mirrors? Once they're set you shouldn't really be needing them unless you can't park and you need to dip the Passenger side one. I've removed all the electronics for the wing mirrors just the switch stays there until i can get a std trim piece to butcher for my next idea

Tyres ain't cheap though, just paid £715 for 4 Goodyear F1's

can you post up a closer pic of the tubing around your boot brace Steve as mine is crap and has been like it for 2 years so time to get it sorted me thinks:whistling:

The rear arches on a 7/8/9 aren't as forgiving as a 5/6's Its ok I've budgeted £1k for tires alone I want to either get Volks again i think Or Rota's
