looks like a new crank or engine mate. you prob read all my treads iv put up on this page so far youve most likely got piston slap mate that what happens when you run with no oil, been there done that lol:wtf:. like i said you can check the crank your self just take your oil pan and caps off and you will most likely find swarff in your pan . theres no point taking it all the way to the garage just to find out that and cost you. its gona have to be towed afterwards anyway so you might aswel check it be for it goes mate :ninja:

ill be honest mate i dont wanna be gettin much more involved inside the engine, i didnt the tappets but thats as far as ill go, im gonna take it up to the guys who do this for a living and not sell phones, i dont antisipate a small bill to fix it as much as it pains me to say but im done with throwing money at it on a hope that it works. how much roughly did it cost you to rebuild after you got the piston slap mate

look down at the big bottom pully and youl see it you rotate it that there is a small notch out the inside edge of it (closest to camcover) around the 1:00 position if looking from the side of the car youll see some markings on the cover that the notch in the pully wheel should line up with. at the same time the cams will also line up with the notches in the rocker cover. think of its as all 3 marks must line up at the same time :)

im just lucky that my mates good with cars im learning as i go mate like you lol. you dont have to do all that im doing if its just the crank get one from a breakers off el or the lads ine the garage might find something for ya you will will only need new berings with it. might cost about 400 in parts it labour that the might charge the most for, as i found when you want to take something small off the car you have to take 4 or 5 different things off to get at what you want lol. its not a small job to tke out the crank:disgusted:

Easiest way to check, the outter crank pulley (the 1 that eventually fails and flys off the car) sits on a dowel, when the crank is timed up in the correct position that dowel sits at the 3 o'clock position, and you should just about beable to see it even with the front wheel on.

then check that the 2 cam timing marks line through wth the marking on the rocker cover perfectly. if it doesnt then rotate the crank i revolution untill they do. use a couple long 1/2" extension bars and a ratchet to rotate the crank. if you cant get all 3 to line up at the same time then the timing is out and the tapping noise is youe valves banging against your pistons

yes but it is not a quick or cheap fix i have wighed it up it will be easyer to get another engine than to fix it cus almost defo bores are damaged so total strip and if he has got to pay a garage to do that job its very exspensive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:sad:sorry i know how you feel
