you need to get it to a specialist mate, we are clutching at straws here really as it needs someone with some knolledge to get stuck into it who has spare parts at there disposal to try eliminate the problem :)

I'm thinking the same problem as you had Lee with temps only much lower down the scale:confused:

what ecu do you have? and has some one enabled valet mode on it? when you turn the ignition on and then push the throttle to the floor before statrting after 4-5 secs does the mil light flash, either that or its a faulty sensor that is forcing a limp home mode, check that trottle cable is rotating the buttryfly all the way round and hasn't rolled off the arm.
is there any chance you can get a log of the ecu?
where are you based?

as far as i know valet mode has not been enabled, wot is the mil light? ill check the throttle cable tomorrow ill be also doing a boost leak test tomorrow just to rule that out, im based in paisley scotland.

strange thing is this problem happened while i was slowing down for a red light, wen i went to pull away it just would not rev past 2k.

the ecu light is not flashing wen i hold the accelerator in for 4-5 secs.

i have found a mechanic willing to look at the evo wen he has time so thats a step in the right direction lol.

this is probably nothing to do with my problem in any way but could my blitz digital turbo timer be anything to do with it? just a random thought really.

Would have thought the timer is just wired to the ignition so no won't effect the running of the engine :)

as it just continues to allow the engine to run after the ignition source is removed I doubt that it has a limiter in there (incase the car is stolen during the rundown) but if it has it might be what limits the car. i'd say its defo a faulty sensor somewhere,

Do you own a multimeter? if so just check the voltages from the throttle position sensor, there should be a 0V, 5V and the signal that goes from 0.7 volts on idle to 4+V on full throttle, as it might be a case that as it warms up the voltage only peaks at 1.5-2V or something like that

yeah i own a multi meter infact i got must tools under the sun being an engineer lol, just trying to learn about turbo cars as this is my first 1

ok ill give that a shot and get back to you,

id really like to fix this on my own with out having the expense of a garage as i have my wedding coming up and a baby on the way so money is seriously tied up elsewere as u can emagine lol.

ok can some1 confirm something for me please.

done a quick continuity test on the tps and get continuity when throttle is closed and as soon as i touch the throttle cable i loose the continuity, is this normal?

it started to seriously rain at this point so i had no choice but to go back in the house lol

you'll probably have a little continuity between some of the cables going to the tps as its a variable resistor, when the ignition is on one should be 5V all the time, one should be 0V all the time and the signal should vary depending on the position of the butterfly, your best checking the voltages to be sure

nice 1 ok, em sorry to sound like a tube but im asuming i keep the plug connected and turn ignition on and measure by slightly breaking into the wires? which wires should i test for voltage? im just asking cause if this rain goes off then ill run out quickly and test and would help knowing exactly which of the 4 wires i should be testing.

yeah keep it connected, you might be able to push the meter lead in to the end, if not push a paper clip in, instead save breaking the cable cover, you have 4 wires? are you sure? can you take a picture

ok from the wiring diagram in the manual it appears that the wires are as follow
Black = ground
Yellow - red = 5V
Green - L = another ground from the variable resistor
Green - White = throttle signal

ok so im guessing between black ( ground ) and green/white ( throttle signal ) is were i should measure for the variation in voltage?

thanks for the advice buddy it will be tomoro now before i get to test the sensor but ill post up my results as soon as i have done the test.
