Disconnect the battery for a little while, then connect it back up, see if its cleared any old faults stored in the memory.

i have just done that lol, and yes all codes have been removed.

how do i test the sensors etc? i have a pic of 1 that i will post up in a minute once i have uploaded it

Do you have a friend with an Evo ?
If so try changing the cam sensor / maf etc/ could even be a crank sensor.

The 2k thing sounds like limp home mode

TBH Its almost impossible for anyone to guess whats wrong from sat back here.

dont no any1 that has an evo im afraid,

how do i test the sensors? for instance a voltage or resistance test?

i have removed the cam position sensor and it looks in dam good condition to me but then again it may not be working properly but i have no idea on how to test these things.

the item in the pic is i think the map sensor.
this could be the problem as could the maf.

did the problem get any worse when you disconected the maf ??

i disconnected the maf while it was running and it kinda hesitated a bit but recovered a few seconds after, it was still only revving to 2k with the maf disconnected

so how would i go about trying to determin if it is the map sensor??

I would have thought if it was a sensor then then engine management light would be on ?

Could be the maf, my VII would hardly start when the maf was disconnected but I'd want to try one before I buy it really cos wouldn't want to waste money changing things just on our say so cos it's hard for us to understand the problem without actually being there and seeing/hearing it run.

i have known abs sensors to course problems like this as in the way of putting the engine in limp mode so you can not use the car cus ecu thinks it not safe to drive hence 2k revs

when i was fitting my mbc i made the school boy eror of not connecting the maf again, the car revved real low and popped like a gooden and i didnt have any anti lag at the time, hope this helps

wen i reset the ecu the fault code for the ABS went away, however the car has not turned a wheel yet so im guessing if there was a prob it wouldnt flag up again till it was moving?

wot should the voltage readings be on the TPS sensor? is it 0-5v or something like that?

i believe its between 0.68-0.70, or around them figures, mine is 0.70...

tps voltage is 0.72

and no the abs wouldnt cause the problem, my abs and ayc never worked for a long time. id stil be inclined to try the maf and map sensor

ok guys im on the right track here i have been playing around with the car and its revving sometimes and others its hesitating, i have been cleaning the sensor in the first pic and noticed there was a broken wire, its the red wire with blue stripe as can be seen in the first pic,

in the 2nd pic can some1 tell me what the item marked no1 is please?

also wen i had the car revving a good few times in a row without fail i took it a drive and got to end of street and its went back into revving to 2k only but it doesnt stay at 2k it dips wen it gets there, also it came up with fault no 12 ( engine man light ) and 82 ( ayc light )

are both the pipes that got the the parts vacum pipes ?

id say the broken wire isnt helping expecually if thats the fuel reg

the one at the back could well be the map sensor but im unsure as i have an aftermarket on. but looks as though it could be

yes they are both vacuum lines, they go onto the inlet mani and fuel rail.

i have tried disconnecting the plugs on both of these and makes no difference wot so ever.

i cant even seem to find a voltage on any of the wires so r they even doing anything?

have you soldered up the broken wire? I'd say the solenoid might be the fpr solenoid, are you running a standard ecu? the broken wire looks to be connected to a map sensor

yes get the wire sorted cos its clearly does something also the fact nothing changed when you pulled the plugs off would indicate the part isnt doing its job.
