Boosting levels on E4

the general thought on the standard 4 engine is not to run more than 1.2/1.3 bar of boost (not to say that it cant run more)

the weakest link in the 4 engine when coming to tuning is the ringlands on the pistons followed by the rods.


if you decide to up the boost you must remember that it is a risk you are taking and should get the fuelling and det checked to be safe as poss. (the standard ecu will/should cope fine regarding the extra fuel needed by the engine.)

this is just the way i see it :O)

you have to remember its not just about the boost pressure it the amount of power torque the come from it .

if you run 1 bar on a tuned engine it will make different power / torque to a standard engine


use the boost level as a rough guide to what power other people are making with simular mods .

i would rather look at what is the safe power level than boost level


best thing to do is find a tuner and ask there advise based on what you have and what you want to get


its cheaper to learn from other peoples mistakes


just run it safe till your ready to get it to a tuner or even on the rolling road :O)

i was running 1.2 bar but now ive fitted a cone filter ive had to turn it down due to boost cut, i`d say no more than 1.3 but some people do run 1.5 with no prob`s, like said its the big ass ring lands.

running 1.2 bar in my e4 at the mo with e6 injectors hks filter 3" down pipe and cat back oh and apexi power fc
