+1 also if the coils are faulty you can not put in any timing as your engine will det & melt a piston, looks like this is what happened before you took it to Dynotech.
If you add up the figures you paid £2800 for an engine rebuild & fitting a new turbo kit & intercooler, you said base map & to run the car in on the dyno cost £1000 + £500 this would only leave £1300 for a engine rebuild with porting, head work & labour for the rebuild fitting the turbo kit etc is too cheap..
These figures don't seem right to me
Seems like you have a vendetta against Bob & Dynotech
No those figures are for just the dyno run and map, it does not include any part or labour, the total expense came to over £10k I don't think it's by any measure cheap.
Also the figures of 425 were made after the coilpacks had been replaced. The reason I said it made circa 300 was because this is the figure it made on their running in map in 4th gear, but then I noticed when they were doing the power run after the map (the ones I've uploaded showing 425) they used 3rd gear instead.
All of this was after they've worked on it, so to avoid confusion a rough timeline of what happened looked like this:
I brought car into Hayes engineering with nothing done but exhaust and remap and it was making over 400
They then proceeded to remap it, they wiped it and mapped it
Engine blew up
They then rebuilt the engine to the spec I posted as they deemed it necesary so I paid in advance and they done the work
They then ran the car in on the dyno so I paid them for that plus the money to load a running in map on, from here onwards the car had cold start problems and idling issues and lack of power.
The coilpack went, so I purchased a new set of coilpacks from them and had the car serviced.
I then proceeded to drive it for a while as I was told the final map would address all these issues.
I brought it back to them for mapping and my coilpack went again so it was changed changed again they then finished mapping the car but problem still persist, the dyno plots I've uploaded were after this point.
As for why I don't voice my problems to them instead of slander them off? I'm not sure what I've said to suggest I've not discussed these issues with them before. I have discussed this with them to no end and each time they've insisted:
"bring it back next time and we'll sort it out", only they charge quite a large sum to look at the car and 'resolve' the problem being they don't resolve the issue, when confronted again they simply tell me bring it back next time and we'll have a look at it and "bring us down a drink as well because we should have charged you more last time" I don't believe I'm slandering them, to be honest they've been given many chances to remedy the situation and I feel I've exhausted all other option and believe that other enthusiasts have the right to know of my experience before doing business with this company. I'm not telling anyone to avoid them I'm just saying I've been had alot of money with little to no result and I've posted my dyno plots, a video of my car and my spec. If members still wish to take their cars to them there's nothing stopping them, this thread like so many others are just here to provide members with customer's first hand experience in the hope that you can make a well-informed decision.
also another confusing thing why change exhausts after mapping? that looses power
Unless the car is mapped again of course, they have told me to replace my exhaust system based on their hunch that the HKS system is inadequate for 400+ bhp and then come back to them for another map at £500 for rolling road and £500 for the map again. I have been told the price of a remap normally includes the rolling road to map the car, with Hayes engineering, the total price for mapping in this instance would be £1000
I'm not certain that their mapper is willing nor able to map my car, I felt I was left with little option and felt I should have cut my losses and sell the evo off after all the grief it has caused me with him ringing my work place for more money to order extra things I had not discussed with him. It has been an exhausting experience... To begin with I thought I could achieve circa 500 bhp and I have since been told by other tuners that a gt3076r running circa 2 bars of boost on a 2.1 block should achieve over 500bhp with great ease. But to be honest now I would be happy with my car to be running right...
