well after a good trip up to santa pod and 4 fairly good runs up the strip i felt that somthing was harouring my efforts cos after a previous vist to pod i had got my 60ft times down from 2.50sec to 1.75 seconds awesome but i ask why am i just 0.20 seconds quicker 1/4 mile and also why am i 8mph slower at the line compaired to my previous attempt.... must have been the head wind i thought :hm:
well un beknown to me it turns out my secondary fuel pump has stopped working and i complete my brisk 3hour drive home too.
only a couple days later when i flicked the ignition on did i realise the pump wasnt working
because of the power level my car is at the in tank pump just isnt up to the job so i also have a bosch 044 in line fuel pump to make sure she gets the amount of fuel required.
it turns out the reason the pump stopped working was because the inline fuse holder thats fitted in the main power cable that supplies the power to the pump was poor quality, and or just not up to the job as the colour part of the blade fuse was slightly melted and the connections the fuse plugs into was poor and the fuse became detached so obviously this resulted in the pump not running but unfortunatly for me this also ment my engine was running lean
a cheap fix for a new fuse holder to get the pump up and running again but look at the damage that has been caused due to the engine running lean
the head will be coming off the weekend so will update this post with pics of my findings as and when
first off what looks like fragments of melted piston sat on top of the piston
then what looks like some vertical scoring to the bores
