You'd need a forged engine to run one
You can run up to around 360 bhp safely on stock internals on a 6 maybe slightly more
The turbo off an Evo 9 are a good upgrade than can make 400bhp+
It's called an 80 series turbo
They do fit easily Some minor changes needed I think different elbow I'm sure one of the other guys on here will know for sure![]()
I think the 400 turbos were built especially for the 400 probably hard to find one too
The lag you would get off it would be mahoosive I would say. Grab a 9 turbo you can pick them up relatively well priced and reconditioned too
^^ this
i went from a 6 turbo to a 80series and the difference was epic...

No they are not. There is a 71 series which was fitted to the MR and Gt which is just rubbish. Well ok just not as good at making power like the 80 series.
The 80 series is the commonly used one as fitted to fq320 340 etc.
Has to be a 9 one mate. The 8 one isn't much different to what you already got![]()
The 80 Series was fitted to the IX non MR, The 70 and its revised 71 Unit was found on the IX GT and an option on the IX RS IIRC. The 71 was a fantastic turbo, the compressor wheel was made from Magnesium Alloy making it quite a bit lighter than the 80 series. They made more power and torque too! The reliability of the Mag wheel let them down though. The 80 series would be your best bet or the later, smaller 15.5G Unit found on the IX MR.
