Onlins may be a bit over kill but like what has been said, if there's no budget then go for them. They are supposed to be brilliant with full adjustability of the dampers (rebound etc) you'll be able to get them set up really well to handle most surfaces.

BC's only adjust stiffness both ways, a basic set up. But they are good and IV run them round nurburgring and track days with no issues, my friend is in the same boat too with his car and they've done fine.

What tyres are you running?

Have you got Rear ARB yet? (Whiteline)

Polybushes?

Fully braced?

such a hard thing to judge with all of the crap you read on here and MLR about aftermarket suspension and its the problem is that everybody listens, i sell BC, HSD, Ohlins, Sachs an dhave also owned and tracked all of the above suspension, including teins so i have nothing to gain from anything

Lower end of the market under £1000

BC + HSD - both bottom end of the market, price wise, very good for what you pay, both have had issues and because of that people who will tel you there pants, they tend to develop knocking in a small amount of cases which is simply down to the build quality control, most if not all get replaced FOC _ what i would say is the big difference between thee and high end stuff is the road manners, they are a lot stiffer than standard and an experience evo driver would noting there a bit lacking in feel. 1000's of folk using them though and very few experienced issues, if you fast road use there an amazingly great buy

MID £1500 - £2300

Ohlins/Sachs/KW

some extremely good suspension about here, most people only think that there are Ohlins in this bracket and lots of people who are "sponsored" spouting off about how good they are (naturally),then lots of folk taking that as fact. they are amazing but then you have to consider KW and Sachs, which is what i use. the thing you notice with suspension like this is that the road manners when not on the track is most often better than standard suspension, put it on the track though and it simply comes to life and offers so much grip. all of this range is nice and simply to use

High £3000+

Nitron - AST - Ohlins - JRZ - proflex

a set of nitrons for example would set you back £4000+ will normally be 3 way and a seriously good set up, in fact you wont get much better. for the average person though there simply far to complex to use effectively. i ran a set of AST 3 way suspension on my old evo 9 and took them off within 3 month, i just couldn't get them to work properly and realised i was out of my depth

personally i would say that each bracket of suspension are al as good/bad as each other, nothing between BC/HSD or Ohlins/Sachs apart from price:D lots to be saved though. best thing would be to get out in a car with some on and see what you think. if your ever at a sprint or track day feel free to have a gander out in my sprint car, you would be stunned

I got bc's br because they were cheap and better than stock suspension.

Personally not that impressed with them, you get what you pay for with things. Very basic dampener, with original rear mounts they knock. That's just my opinion on them, there are better options.

Martin this is the reply i was wanting to achive:) What are your currently running on your car now? I don't really use my car much so it will be more likey once a week if am lucky(more like once a month) and mainly want a nice handling fast road car which will perform well on the track!

Matt would you change these now then for something else or are you happy for what you get for the price you have paid and plan on keeping them fitted to our car?:)

I had basically the same as you until recently, Std shocks, Teins, braces etc. I had the same on my 9 as well but I have recently changed to HSD Monopro.
There is obviously a massive improvement on track and I'm sure my tyre sidewalls would thank me for the change.
But..
In my opinion they are too excess for the road, I cant feel any benefit unless I am doing things that I really shouldn't be and driving normally I miss the comfort that I had.
This is in no way a reflection on how good or bad the suspension is but of how bad our roads are.
I've been through it all before, putting coil overs on road cars then regretting it and have recently changed the tyres on my Gtr to non run flats for the same reason.
I think that if the main purpose of your car is for road fun with the occasional track day you won't go much wrong with what you have and it wont have you holding much up on a track day anyway.
Newer/serviced shocks may make a big odds.

I would personally change them, they are an improvement over stock suspension and tein springs mind. Won't be any time soon so will have some chassic upgrades on first. Interested to see what difference whiteline roll bars will make to the car. Think polybushes, bump steer kit then see how the car handles. Maybe worth just running heavier springs to see if they make any improvements, would allow for more tweaking of the preload as it runs the rebound as well (feature I dislike, rather individual control)

Martins price for Sach's seems good.

Not a bad tyre those khumos :)

You'll see at blyton what you need Mario. It will certainly highlight what your struggling with ie tyres, suspension etc.

You have my car to jump in and experience too, will all help with the direction you go :D

The only car I've had masses of experiences with in suspension change is my friends Impreza. He went from top of the range dampers and springs and (like your self) with geo set up (limited settings) to BC's with full geo set up. They are very different set ups with changes of grip levels at certain speeds, but its gained so much more stability and predictability in the corners.

It was a different animal around nurburgring this year he recorded his best bridge to gantry of 8:30 compared to the 9min+ last year. That added to the new looks of the lower car and he's well chuffed.

Ultimately like I said it will be down to the track as to what direction you'll take, it definitely changed me and my cars direction.

Probably one of the best "singular" suspension mods you can do on a 4WD car

im running ZF Sachs Race Engineering on mine and they are the best i have had by a long way, been in the top 3 of all of the sprints i have competed in since fitting them:D was introduced to them through EvoTune when i was took out in there evo 9. i alays found the AST 3 ways, Ten Monos etc to stiff and skittish (even on the lowest settings). the biggest thing for me is a i have never changed or adjusted the setting since fitting them over a year ago, there just that well balanced

also the major thing that folk cock up on and fail to do properly is get the suspension set up properly and a good set up geomentry, the right camber and toe is vital to get the best out of them, im sure CPP will support you with this

Couldn't be more true! Should have seen the state of the geo on my mates Impreza when we just whacked them on, all over the place! Until he took it to a proper garage with all the set up equipment :D
