Hi Guys..

My 260: has 3" from turbo and race-cat.. Apexi airfilter, helix clutch..

I'll change plugs soon... Recomends??
And a Walbro and boost gauge will be fitted soon.

next year It'll be mapped.. but what boost should I run now,
And what power gains could I have with that boost..

saw and ad in pistonheads. That evo had hks 3" fr turbo. and Filter and had
323bhp.. on stock Ecu..

Dont know how much the car Is boosting right now with theese stuff, still waiting for the gauge..

best regards: Tony M

Run it at stock boost

Ok then great.. what is stock boost?.. I would guess It boosts more then stock now with mods like exhaust..?? I remember my Silvia S15 boosted like 0,8 when I Got 3"exhaust... and stock was almost 0,6 on it

THX =)

It will peak roughly 1.2 bar, without fuel pump leave the boost alone once pump is in 1.4 max until map. That's what I did and run it like that for nearly a year before a map. Each car Is however diff so I take nos responsibility for car going whoops

Exhaust won't allow it to boost more if your controller is doing its job mate either

Lol so you run nearly half a bar more boost without having fuel or timing checked? :disgusted:And then tell the bloke if it goes bang don't blame you lol:whistling::whistling:

I run 0.2 bar more than standard as my boost was 1.2 on standard solenoid which is well with safe parameters. Cars been mapped even with the higher boost no map afrs were well within tolerance.

i agree they probably will be within tolerance, what if the the fuel pumps not fitted corectly? what if the FPR is faulty? what if theres a slighlty iffy injector, cranking up the boost without checking the AFRs would make any problem worse and trust me alot of these cars i see are not perfect and i see problems all the time, shoddy work, bodging and worn parts etc, you cannot say that people should turn the boost up without getting the car mapped or logs carried out to make sure all is well:wtf:

Sure the 260 fuel cut is about 1.2? I could well be work but I'm sure it's less than the fq's which was about 1.5ish.

As said no good pushing to much boost til its mapped.

Where are you based? No point changing the boost until its mapped then you can run 1.8 bar all day long

all those things you have mentioned can just occur on a car that has had no mods at all causing det, blown head gaskets, idle irregularities ect.

i have only reccomended well within the safe tolerances that are widely available on the internet from reputable sources. 20% increase in boost without modififying other parts is within allowance.

like i said in my earlier post, every engine is different some can take more than others, for example some IV owners will tell you crank walk is a myth and they are running 380bhp on stock internals and the next guy does the same and BANG.

the world if full of what ifs, what if we was in america this conversation would be completely different they dont care they just do and their cars work.

yes afrs are the biggie really when increasing boost modestly, my advice would be to include an afr gauge in your stage 2 mods

i know of a few VIII now mine included that the boost has been upped and no ill has come of them which is where i based my advice on.

back to op, the only sure fire way of everything going right is stock up all your mods and fit next year when you have your map done so its all mapped in together, or even better dont tune at all standard cars are more reliable. but with tuning comes risks

and we are all risk takers......................
