would a small hole and worn/perished recirc hose have much affect on how my car boosts? the reason im asking is im sure it hasnt been boosting quite right for a while now.ive checked all other boost and vac hoses i can think of but have noticed the very small hole in the recirc hose! boost seems to be a bit ify but does boost to about 1 bar! and ive been getting a strange kinda metallic type almost induction noise, thought it was the turbo but i can hear that spooling aswell and no smoke etc and is still boosting to 1 bar just sometimes seems a little flat at times, just the noise has baffled me!

Any hose with a hole in it or just leaking will cause problems

Thanks mate.im trying to find a replacement hose now.any ideas on the metallic rattle type noise im getting when on boost?would this be a hose causing that type of noise or would it be the turbo on its way maybe? Thanks.

I would say turbo. Take intake pipe off and check for play on the shaft

this is what i was guessing but wasnt sure, but if it is the turbo then would it not boost at all?,as im still getting full boost most of the time just sometimes seems flat etc not had any smoke etc either but does make sense with your answer:sad:

It will still boost, right up to the point the guts it the turbo give up completely and get sucked through your intake and into your engine. Give it a quick check only takes a couple minutes :)

how do i check it exactly mate?which hose etc needs coming off? thanks:blush:

The big one on the front of the turbo. Take it of and just check for any excess shaft play. If the compressor wheel blades touch the sides then that's your problem
