You dont get it. Once she privatised them they are not owned or governed buy our government (who ever is in power) so they can charge and make what ever they like. They can not be regulated because she sold them. She was not clever, she did not have vision and as for an iron lady, I would have said stubborn bitch.

I do get it mate as I grew up through it all and witnessed what went off with my own eyes! Trouble is and don't take this the wrong way but your from the next generation which knows nothing of the poverty and mess this country was in!

I live in a rural part of Nottinghamshire and there was alot of mining communities in Nottinghamshire so we witnessed alot of animosity across the community!

yep mario she privatised the industries etc with a view they would be better long term, ok things didnt go smooth and a lot suffered BUT the vision was to save money long term because as ushuall, at that time work was all about fiddle,

I.e miners clocking one and other in when not even there, then striking when things arent to their liking firms cannot sustain take take take so if you have the 3 major industries in the uk all taking at what point does something give???
Step up maggie love her or hate her she had a vision and it was that if you want something get off ya fat ass and work for it greed is good, look at things now are they so much better than when she was in power??

I'm 33 and I can't really comment on the reign of Thatcher, however seeing how people are cheering that she has died spare a thought for her family and friends and think of if someone close to you died how you would feel! She was in power for 15 years? She must have done something right? Compare that now to all the come and go Prime Ministers of today!

Too young to really comment on what she did with Britain and closing of things and so on. Being from the NE i know shes hated around here for the mine closures, but it hasnt effected my life or anyone that i know. Just my view but I think she had bigger balls than all the pms put together since her. sahe got somethings wrong, got some right. But if we get money from the Falklands oil or that in some way benefits us, shes done good. I would love to of seen someone like her in power now.

Well said pal you hit a couple of nails on the head, we have benefitted greatly from the Falklands and she showed the argies they can't just take something that belongs to us, yes people died but it's war.... And as for the closures they needed to happen, it's always a shame people being put out of work but most places population found other jobs, the ones that didn't bother are the ones with ill feeling
