octane boosters

ok been looking at a few of these recently. millers being one of them claiming to boost your octane value by +4.
the best petrol i can get in my area is texaco high oc97 so to me a booster would surely be a good thing.
my question is has anyone here used it and does it work?

think that was the one i was looking at..
do you know if it works, ever had a power test done before an after?
also was looking at it in demons tweeks catalogue. and hoping it was a spelling error as it said 500ml does 20litres???? where other makes did 500litres....

i didnt have a power run before or after pal,,, but i do know its good stuff,, i put it in my car before a rr day jan the start of this year and i did notcie a little xtra bite when driving,,,,

maybe other mambers might be on to post their thoughts, if positive or nagitive,,

The group buy is a fuel additive designed to clean out the combustion chamber and the exhaust system. It will not increase the octane in the fuel but you will notice that the engine has improved performance after you have used the complete bottle up.

It is a way of regaining the engines lost youth

As for the Millers CVL TURBO, I am sure that it will do 20l or there about, a full tank at the most and that will be stretching it very thin.

It is only recommended for occasional use if the car has a cat fitted, otherwise, semi regular is OK.

As for the ones that do 500l

Millers do an OCTANE PLUS too which is for vehicles with cats.

Might be worth pointing out too that some tuning and performance centres don't like the erratic results that are produced on a dyno run though.

On another note Diccon, don't you have a Tesco in your area???

Their branded Fuel "Momentum" is 99 RON.

be careful guys when buying octane booster!


you need to read the bottle carefully, eg. some will say +4 points, where actuallt its only 0.4points in the terms of pump fuel RON.

I think there are a few out there that are worth using.



Another thing to note is even if it did add 4RON to your fuel in the tank, you wont gain any performance by this unlees your mapped whilst running it.

eg
2 healthy standard evo 6's on the dyno
one has 99 ron fuel - results 280BHP
the other has 99 ron fuel and a good octane booster - results 280BHP

Personally, I'd stick an extra £5 v-power instead of the booster

my closest tesco is 16miles away.... so by the time i got there and back i would need to fill up again

hi el i have a tesco in my area on used it on my skyline was cheaper but after a couple of uses my spark plugs fouled up and burnt my coil packs
now i only use shell but thats just my thoughts

it has nothing to do with the fuel, the coil pack can fry at any time.

It was just it's time to go I am afraid to say.

its not only tesco!, when cars come in for work you can tell they use crap fuel as the colour of the plugs that we take out and have so many of them that come in saying i got a misfire, start investigations as it is crap plugs that or a funny colour or the lamda sensor fails and 9/10 customers when asked where do you get your fuel, well you lot know what im goinig to say! but tried some octanie boost i used milers one that said it will give you a boost of 4 but all i found is that it made the car pop and fart out the back .

Yeah try and go for V-Power if you can, otherwise the Tesco - I've heard a few things about octane boosters, i.e. They can leave traces in your engine and stuff like that, however I'm not the most clued up guy about this sort of thing, just been told to stay away from them!!

I've found tesco 99 fuel to be pretty good.....some cases better than vpower
