Hi Dom!

I have been meaning to enquire as to the progress but have kept forgetting about it.

So what is the latest buddy???

El

any updates on this m8??

Hey Fellas,

Sorry, no good news just yet :( I had to come back to America to handle some family business, will return on November 8th.

I'm looking to get it towed to a shop while I am away just to have another set of eyes look at her. Can't wait to get her back on the road!

*EDIT*

I did fix the fuel leak, it didn't yield me any better results, still no start. I did make a youtube vid of how she sounds trying to start, it may sound like its cranking a little slow because battery power was dying down a bit.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX2lLwJOPwE"]YouTube - Evo 4 no start[/ame]

The car running in the background is my Ion Redline, was using it for extra battery power.

I'm starting to think it's crank walk...I think the crank moved the plate over and smashed the sensor. Only thing is, I really need to see a picture of where the hell it is down there!?!! lol All I see is a crank pulley down there when I removed the wheel and plastic cover???

I'm sure if it was a snake I'd be bitten by now but I just can't see the Crank Angle Sensor....when I look at the side of the motor that is all that I see in the shot of the side of that engine. I see where the diagram is pointing but its just not adding up:(

Hi Dom!

Can you upload those pics again please because I think that the link is broken.

All I can see is half a picture X 2

Have ya had the engoine out now?

If ya can't see the sensor then it might not be there any more. Must be like el was saying in that it got nocked off pal. What a dilemma!

Here you go....

I just cropped two pix together...one from the technical manual saying where the sensor should be, the other of an actual engine I grabbed a pic of. That's EXACTLY what I see when I look at the side of the engine.

I know right, that'd definitely be the dilemaa! That'd be too easy though, not my kind of luck.

It's just a pic I snagged of the interent, maybe someone can circle exactly where I need to be looking on the engine.

Can you guys see the pic a little better? Has anyone found a pic of the Crank Angle Sensor for me, it'd help me tremendously. Is there anyone that can help me with this. I just want to know where it is?

I really think this is the crank angle sensor. PLEASE HELP, we have 5 pages of talking and I believe it's all the for crank angle sensor LOL. Help me out guys, it's been too long since I heard her purr!

Hi Dom!

I guess your recent post must have passed me by, I decided I would ask you for an update today and just noticed that you had been back on in the mean time.

Bearing in mind that you need to be looking at the picture as that is what I am going by, the diagram is 100% correct but what you need to understand is the it relates to what is BEHIND the Crank Cover.

You need to remove the Crank Pulley and the Pulley immediately to it's right and the pulley that is above it to the left.

Once done, remove the black cover and the Crank Shaft Sensor will be revealed!

It is attached with 2 X 10mm bolts beside the pulley that is to the right of the Crank Pulley (the one that is a golden copper colour in the photo).

A bit of a job to do this, but see how you get on and please keep us posted buddy.

What's up guys, long time no talk!! Just giving an update on this one!

Had the compression checked at a GOOD shop, 1 GOOD 2 NO GOOD 3 GOOD 4 GOOD

I did notice the car empty on COOLANT when I bought it from the guy and I'm thinking it overheated enough to cause the damage it did. We realized the HEAD was WARPED! Right in between the cylinder #1 & 2 causing the head gasket not to seal properly :\

Idk if its the water pump that went out or car just not having any fluid in it. I wish I could have checked the water pump before I started tearing things apart!

The guy wants to mill the head to fix the issue.

-Head gasket / Studs / Water Pump recommendations?

She issss up and RUNNING!!!!! Finally!!!

- Main culprit here was a warped head throwing off the compression

- He milled the head, did minor head work(valve job),small hand port & polish job, replaced valves/guides, gaskets, etc etc.

- Now she's all buttoned up and back on the road!!!

- Moral of the story; Do not run a car w/o coolant like the guy I bought the car from did:wtf:

I'm definitely extra paranoid w/coolant now....I don't like the fact that coolant temp reading on the guage cluster, usually warms up to about 75%

I'm on a missing to keep that coolant as "cool" as possible, thermostat recommendations would be most appreciated. Along w/which wideband you guys are having the best overall experiences. A coolant temp guage is definitely in order. Along w/the best oil cooler you guys can think of to prolong this crankwalk for as long as it will hold off:p

Thanks for the time and patience gents!!
