Jay has been round today, gapped the new rings, honed the bores and re fitted the pistons with a nice new set of acl race series bearings :)

Just waiting for him to skim the head which will be done this week so not long to go now. Shame I'm working such long hours at the mo that I won't be able to get it bolted down but hey, no rush :)

Note the nice steel crank and the lack of balance shafts :)

have you just removed the balance shafts? you'll notice a little more vibration now :(, is liveable although depends on how many things in the cab that like to make noises, getting there though :)

No mate they were already removed when it was forged and to be honest I never really noticed the difference when I removed them from the engine in my VII

And a quote from my engine builder mate "hm steel crank, this thing should be able to rev it's nuts off :) "

But Jay, I always change at 7k anyway.

This engine will be safe to rev to 8k easy :)

do you know at which point in the rpm that the power starts to drop off?

I guess 8K rpm limits will only be useful if your doing a high speed run some where

No I don't mate. I normally change at 7k anyway which is what I said to ant when he asked if I wanted to raise raise the limit from 7.5k anyway.
Turbo still holds boost up to 7.5k
But yea your right would only be useful if say on the drag strip and was approaching the line and rev limit at the same time so would save changing up to 5th gear.

As the car is pretty much just a road car then not really much point in raising the limit but will see what she is like once run in and I get the turbo back.
