hey, you'll have to excuse me cos ive set up a few threads on here about my evo 4, but I need help and advice because id like the car to run 1 bar or 15psi boost but right now it doesn't want to know!
just to let everyone know its a gsr import 1996, the motor is recently rebuilt and its running actuator pressure which on my guage shows about 8psi on full throttle.
the mods are apexi induction kit, forge vent to atmos dump valve and a full 3" de cat stainless exhaust, oh and the speedo is converted to read mph.
here is the confusing bit, as far as im aware if I take the looped pipe from the bottom of the turbo off the actuator and bung it then plug in the pipe that comes from the small black unit in the wing and plug that into the actuator, the e.c.u should then control a sensible boost right?
well on mine when I do that and drive it the needle on the guage flies past 0.5 bar and it nearly hits 1 bar and the motor is just going over 4000rpm then I get the worst what feels like fuel cut, the rpm just hits a wall and its game over!
so the question is whats going on and how can I get it to accept a bar of boost? the plugs are standard, do I need colder ones? I also have a mechanical bren device boost valve in the house would that work? or do I have to send the e.c.u away to a specialist and have a stage 1 chip put in like my mate did with his import gtst skyline?
has anyone else had this problem?
cheers
luke!
