well,
on saturday morning i thought i would check oil and water as you do for the first time and i noticed there was no coolant in the header tank,so i topped it up and went about my business for the day, drove about 50miles max and sat in a little bit of traffic on the a10 for about 10mins. anyways when i got up sunday morning i thought i would check again and the was about 2/3 of the collant gone from the header tank..
.so i topped it up again and went out and done about 20-30miles drive.. i got back and the level went up a little,so now i am thinking head gasket failed!. i got up today and the coolant level is just under the the full mark and the over flow pipe is bone dry,i mean it has dust in it so i cant see if any coolant has gone, i know if its blowing gases into the collant system it would push all the coolant out through the over flow pipe on the header tank (i think)
. i have taken the cap off the radiator when doing all this and its always been full with coolant! thinking of getting a sniffer test or a health check, but aint got a clue where to take it around my way (hertfordshire)
anyone got any views on this or should i just bare with it and see what happens and if the coolant disappears again..
