Metal pipes coming from manifold

Hi all what the is metal pipes comeing from the top of my manifold on an E4,
Is it some thing to do with exhaust recycle ect is it need as an old e4 i had in the past it wasent there?

So can i just blank them off then at the point were they meet the egr system just put a blanking gasket in, will this effect the car in anyway in a bad way?

Pretty sure you can just do that but i would ask or search the forums. I havent done it personally so couldnty say for definate.

The metal pipes going to the exhaust manifold are SAS not egr. Secondary Air System... used for cooling the turbo and assists in the pops/bangs.
It can be removed and blanked off at the manifold and air intake.

On the Mitsubishi Evolution later series (evo 4-9, JDM models only) the SAS (Secondary Air System) can be activated to provide Antilag.

So in that case why would anyone want to remove this?

True m8 i like to know too tbh i had never heard of sas and only "egr delete mod". I just meant if i dont know anythin about somethin i wont touch it and it will get a trip to the garage lol i have tried looking for info about sas but cant find anythin

yep ! vii has both indeed .....had to re install SAS pipes while back when i fancied some noise ! also blanked off egr valve to aid with the pops n bangs ....sod emissions,the trees doth grow still

What do you want to know about the SAS??
You can leave it on and have it help with pops/bangs and cooling of the turbo.
Or
You can remove it.
