Hi guys! Evo 7 Questions

To be honest, not too much I could really add to what the guys have already told you.

*NOTE* Take you're time when looking for one. You will probably see a few less than good condition ones before you find a good one

The difference is 6 is the DADDY

Also, just wondering what are the gearboxes like on evos? How much power can you put through a 7 before it gives up the ghost?

How resilient are they to launches and what not?

I've been around for a while now mate. Where you from ??

7 has a 5 speed box just like earlier cars. 8/9 have a slighty weaker 6 speed which can fail more so than a 5 speed.
I put 460bhp through my 7 gear box and when I got rid it was starting to get stiff when changing gear and the odd crunch when trying to change quickly. Box had done 70,000 miles when sold but to be honest the gearbox and rest of the drive train will take as much stick as you want to but obviously the same with anything, after a while the abuse starts to take it's toll

Awesome and stock internals are good for what 350bhp? And about 1.6 bar on the stock tubby?

I'm at the Uni in Bath but live in Surrey during holiday time. I pootle to and from lectures in my celica and go to a few meets and do the shopping in it! So you might see me about if you drive around Bath much?

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a white 6!

Yea I ran 1:75 bar on standard turbo and engine but the turbo couldn't keep up at high end rpm and would run out of puff so dropped it back to 1:60 which made for a much better car.

Ah you won't really see me then cos I don't go into bath much and i live just outside Although I have done work at the uni over the years fitting doors and windows

If I see a celia flash then I will know it's you.

Haha ok will do! I'm pretty hard to miss. Got a 120db exhaust, black, lowered, white 18" Compomotives and blacked out all round.

hello and welcome. never heard some one like the 7 more than the 6:wtf: plus the 4's the daddy lol. My mate's had a lot of prob's with his ayc on his's 7, on his 3rd ayc pump now i think so yeah check that mate, make sure the pump not making any funning noise's. Doesn't stay on when car's turned off. But other than that the car's been faultless running 350 for 2-3 year's now and he's drive's it hard. Very strong car!!

Will do! Cheers for the advice! Apparently the AYC can be a bit of a problem.... Hmmmm

But yeah I think the 7 looks better and will probably be slightly better to live with due to not being so "focused" as the 6! lol

Wouldn't worry too much about the AYC really mate.

If you are going to look at an Evo VI (or IV or V),then when you turn on the ignition (not actually starting the engine) the AYC light should come on, then go off. If it stays on, ask questions as it shouldn't do this (unless an RS diff is on the car). If it doesn't come on at all, then I would also be asking questions as the LED light may have been removed (no honest reason I can think of to do this)

As for the VII onwards, I am sure someone will clarify/confirm or correct, but the ACD lights should come on in the same fashion the AYC light will come on on a VI. All three lights should illuminate (Snow, Gravel and Tarmac) if not, ask questions.

If you see a specific car forsale on the internet, post a link on here, I am sure people will be able to help one way or another
