the miss fire probably not..but the having trouble starting could. When you get crank walk it can touch and damage the crankshaft position sensor. So can cause trouble starting up and can cause the car to cut out. best thing to check for crankwalk is to get under the car and remove the flywheel inspection plate. Put a dial test indicator on the end of the flywheel. if you get somebody to press and depress the clutch and you underneath with a pry bar try and pry the flywheel back and forth. Measure the travel in the flywheel. I think the limits quoted by mitsi is .25mm

that and oil pressure test, cheers buddy, will try these tests this week
only concern with doing a opt is that the test wont confirm whats actually wrong,

but 1 step at a time, really appreciate the help
thanks

hello again

hey guys,

bit late getting back to you, however the oil pressure tester didnt turn up untill the weekend, and have only got round to doing a test this afternoon,

i think its safe to say the oil pump is failing,

on idle is hardly reading anything on my gauge,

however when i rev it around 3-4000rpm, its only reading around 10-15 psi,

from what ive read on previous threads about pressure on the evo, this is a hell of alot down,

im just weirdly confused how it hasn't started knocking extensively as yet,

any ideas guys?

cheers

it could be your oil pump but i still think its your bearings!! as said..you are better off fitting an evo 5 on engine and dont forget to fit a new oil cooler too

you can fit bearings to them but to be honest ive done it myself and 2000 miles down the road they went again. the reason you swap the oil cooler is because all the debris from the bearings is in with your oil, and a commonly over looked part is the oil cooler...people have lost engines again from not changing the oil cooler
