HELP NEEDED WIRING REAR FOG LIGHT

Hi,

I have a 2005 Evo 8 Mr, UK model.

I have read every thread i can find in the net regarding this and still cant seem to find any instructions.

I have dual fog light switch in it, so front and rear.

The fronts are fitted in the headlights and work correctly.

I assume the rear fog would have been in the rear bumper at some point but there is no longer a fog light fitted to the car.

The rear fog light switch operates the warning light in the cluster.

I have checked the rear and underside of the car and can't find any type of loom or wiring for a fog light.

I have pulled the switches and on the back there is some sort of circuit board added which has a brown and green wire attached. The brown looks like it goes up to the dash so probably powering the warning lights. The green goes down under the scuff panels but I do no know where it runs to or what it is for, as its wrapped with the rest of the loom.

I have an mot due soon and need to get it wired up asap. I am looking to use the empty reverse light in the rear cluster for the fig light. The loom is still wired for reverse.

Any help would be much appreciated, I am sure many poeple will have done this somehow for the same reason.

I have attached pics of the rear of the fig switches and the circuit board albeit wrapped in heat shrink.

Anyone? There's got to be others that have done this that can assist. I see a a lot of comments saying it's easy etc but none with instructions.

I need this harness that plugs into the dual switch!!! I have an import so only a front fog and then an aftermarket installed rear fog which I want to make OEM like yours, perhaps you can help me with the wiring of yours and I can help you wire yours to the rear. (Mine works but on an ugly non-OEM switch)

Hi,

I am not sure where the harness/circuit board comes from as it was already installed in mine when i bought it.

I have since managed to get mine wired in place of the reverse light.

I followed the wiring and realised there was a green wire running all the way to the rear light loom.

When I unplugged the rear light loom, t car side had 6 pins in, one being a green and yellow wire, which was fed from the green wire attached to the switch.

The light cluster only had 5 pins, and no pin that connected to the fog wire on the harness. I therefore moved the reverse wire on the light cluster to the empty pin, so I connected with the green and yellow wire.

I then swapped the reverse bulb for a red fog light bulb and everything worked as it should. (There is now just no offside reverse light)

My understanding is they were installed by the Colt Car Company (Mitsubishi UK) for the UK Evos when they came over for sale in the UK market as Jap cars don’t need rear fogs but obviously do in the UK. So cause the ‘converter’ was installed by essentially the ‘manufacturer’ the kit can’t be bought off the shelf and I therefore need to find someone breaking a UK Evo I guess… once I manage to find one though I could do with some help on where to splice into the gauge cluster if you wouldn’t mind. Obviously I have a working rear fog so can use the cable already installed for that but want it to be as OEM as possible (both buttons working, light illuminated on the dash etc…)

I wouldnt know where to splice into it and dont really want to open it up. There are definitely some posts about it though as I remember reading them previously when looking through fog light wiring threads

Would you have any links to these threads as I literally can’t find anything online, hence why I was so relieved to see your post! Any more pictures you have too I’d greatly appreciate!
