My car is being a bitch at the moment, and not playing ball at all, a few strange things keep happening, first off only sometimes when I'm in 3rd and 4th gear she doesn't pull like she used to, it feels like she struggles, and it used to be sometimes but is now happening 9/10 times when I'm going for it through the gears ( like off a slip road ) and hit 5th there's like a weird resistance that last a couple of seconds, and a horrible burrrrrrrr noise, ( hard to exolain the noise ) then she bolts and pulls fine.

Anyone have any ideas what it could be ?

Also noticed she hates reverse gear, no probs getting into any gears, she just doesn't like going backwards, she feels really stiff

Might have something to do with both the ABS and AYC lights coming on after a few mikes of driving :(

Nothing to do with the lights. Best you get someone to look it over really as by the sounds of it this could be anything.

Might be worth doing the plugs for the sake of a tenner. Ive gotta do mine every few months otherwise it starts playing up. I just do them with every oil change now.

Agreed. Could be map, fuelling, boost leak, anything lol.

Although, brakes could be seized or siezing? Hence the troubles reversing? Are any of your wheels abnormally hot after a drive? Could be one or all four
had this on my old scoob used to feel like I was towing something, then would come alive! Would only need a touch on th brakes to set it off again.

The wheels would be very hot to the touch after a small drive, it used to be the front passenger side that played up. I'd have 3 cold alloys and one red hot one lol.

Seriously, the way you explain things it really could be anything from like whats been said with brakes binding, through to boost leak or anything.
A decent local mechanic should be able to tell you if it's drive train related.

Erm never really touched the wheels after driving them, but I'll definitely try it tomorrow :)

I did say it's hard if I explained it, but you never text bk, so thought I'd ask on here, and most the local mecs round my end are rubbish, I wouldn't trust them with a tonka car, let alone mine.

Not like clutch slip? Would give a similar feeling of not actually pulling....

It's not like clutch slip, and the revs don't fluctuate, it's like it's struggling from 4000 revs get to 6000 in 3rd/4th gear.
Then in 5th gear it has like a resistance block, it feels like something gets stuck ( almost like she's caught something stuck in her intake pipe then feels like it unblocks after a few seconds ) and carries on as normal

The crucial element here is that foxy is not only female but also very very blonde  so this could be anything, even a flat tyre lol :):)

You are so mean  But evidentially so very true to a certain extent :)

If it was a flat tyre, then surely that would answer my stiffness problem in reversing
