the car is how i bought it, the pressure could be opening the wastegate penny but if it is its very slight, ill double check this tomorrow, as far as im aware the wastegate is wound shut, but then its on a spring so pressure will open it id imagine

that'll probably be the issue, you need to make sure that is held shut properly (idealy welded)

sounds like a boost leak, no noise from the screamer as its not opening the wastegate due to it not making the boost it's trying to hold.

Yeah it will do as it's making enough pressure to control boost but on the higher setting the turbo is probably doing it's nuts trying to make enough boost but never does so wastegate isn't opening :)

yeah opens on low boost not on high boost the difference is 5 psi lol

have no splits ina ny pipes and all jubilee clips intact and good amking strong seals will try and make something this week and do a boost leak test though

actuator is shut aswell and doesnt move

but still trying to work out why my boost controller is maxed out and only producing 1.5bar and wont go anymore

just some advise .

i have pressure tested my boost pipe work befor by using a couple of old empty tin cans / bean / spray ect what ever fits your rubber hoses

drill a small hole in the center of the end of one can and fit a rubber tyre valve .

remove the pipe from the bottom of the turbo / boost out and fit the can with out the valve using a the jubily clip . to block the pipe .

remove the pipe from the throttle body and fit the other can with the valve .

now pump up the system using a foot pump with gauge or air line to your system pressure " slowly checking for leaks with a spray bottle and look for the bubbles . or a hiss :O)

you might have to block of the dv outlet ??

i have done it leaving the inlet manifold connected befor and not fitting the second can but not on a evo . but it can be done to find manifold leaks :O)

just a thought silly question .

you are using hose clips on all the connections to the gizzmo , and the turbo and ext waste gate ???

as a very small leak on any of these will make a big differance :O)

Yeah that's a good wAy to do it, you can leave the pipework on the manifold, it holds pressure fine.

One thing you can do, and you MUST be careful, pull the vac pipe off the actuator, and carefully drive the car and build boost past 1.5 bar. It should boost 2 bar +, so be careful, if it goes over 1.5 then you know the Pipework and turbo should make the boost so it's a controller problem. I suspect it won't make the boost

Also you said pipework to the wastegate is fine but can you confirm how it's been piped up

ok

done a boost leak test today well problems ive found

boost hose turbo to intercooler leaking from top, carnt get it to seal, ordering silicone monday

external wastegate vac pipe leaking, washers knackered and also the banjo has been cross threaded, so need a new external wastegate

same vac pipe to gizzmo controller leaking, this has been fixed

t piece leaking for bost gauge and controller, fixed

so what im going to do now is

buy new external wastegate ( i have a 38mm but unsure wether i should go bigger)
new lower boost hose
hardpipe kit ( ebay job? carnt seem to find anywhere else that sells them)
may aswell get a airfilter pipe so i can relocate my battery

so while its off is it worth me getting a new intercooler aswlel get a kit off ebay? as its only £50 extra

going to find a new turbo exhaust housing aswell as my studs have snapped so there bolted but also need the housing that bolts to manifold

will also look into new manifold as this one seems a bit dodgy as keep going through gaskets but then i could just machine it flat again lol

this is the one ive been looking at

MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO 4 5 6 FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER KIT | eBay

problem is i know its get what you pay for but its the hard pipes that im finding the hardest been quoted £600 to have some made, i can get a hks hard pipe for £200 cheaper but i still wont pay that much on 3 or 2 pipes

so going to a company monday to see if they can make me some, or ill get this kit and mod the pipes to suit my needs
