I think I could come with a III running around 450+ and give an X running 700 a real good whooping;)

If not on the first lap then surely within lap 3 or 4:D:D:D

You don't much work on the X's ???

I HATE working on them, there nearly as bad as a subaru to work on (well removing turbo's etc etc).

Are they really that bad? I was going to get one, use it for a bit and get rid but now I'm thinking very hard about it.

I think you would buy one and spend loads of money on it and then happily sell it on for what you bought it for originally!!!

They are not worth it and they have several key issues that are not designed to show themselves when the warranty expires but you know sods law!!!

As for the bit I said about the III, it is not a joke, I am well serious!!!

If you want 1 go for it :D

If you do though, make sure you pay someone else to do any work on it, as you won't enjoy doing it yourself lol.

Don't get me wrong here, some of them look pure evil, and there not a bad car as such.

Just there all heavy, and mitsi lost the plot imo, an Evo is a lightweight rally derived car, with the bare essentials with a couple of creature comforts on most models (aircon and electric windows and central locking).

The X was designed purely to be sold as a reps car, Mitsi targeted the M3 market.

The RS model was only done to keep the loyal rally boys happy, and it was a limited production run.

I'm serious Russ!!!

What's your honest opinion???

El

I know the early's are very lively, and will give cars with much more power a good run, but I think you will need over 500 to keep with 700, after all no track has really long corners, but there are plenty with long straights ;)

Like the weak link in the gearbox's (sst and manual),oh and the maf sensors.

Oh the X rs I mentioned, the turbo failed after 950km , the exhaust wheel vanished

No warranty as it was an import.

Well then a 550ish III will be coming out of the Clinic by March;)

I have been planning another build since I sold the last III and have been talking to my guy at JUN, on and off for the past couple of months, so I guess it is almost time to make the calls!!!

You know we're going to have to have a sit down at some point and discuss the ECU options available right???

The earlier 1's will be quick and they'll be light too. Not had or driven a 1-3 but have had a few protons (evo without the evo gear :)

You've both put me right off buying one. Can't believe how s*&^ they are.

I couldn't work on one guys, mt mechanical knowledge is quite basic. I can work out faults etc (most of the time, but wouldn't know how to fix) lol

Bit of both, but tbh I haven't been following the scene too much with the X's as they are of no real interest to me.

I know the engine has a pretty nasty design flaw that mitsi know all about but deny all knowledge.

And 6 has been my alltime favourite especially the zero fighter :)

The X looks the business (apart from the back, never been too keen on the back of it or should I say from the rear quarter back).

Hmm....Definitely not going for a X now. I'm even thinking twice about taking a mates out for a drive! Just incase I bring it back broken (which will happen going off what you guys have just spelt out)

Yup!!!
They know ALL about them, but still pushed it out to combat the potential loss of sales that would have been generated by the Scooby.

Add to that, the credit crunch hitting the manufacturers, they simply had to let loose.

Me and Raufy have a rolling subscription to a Jap Workshop on line and when they covered the X only weeks after it's release, they had already predicted the Chain Stretch which was something that made us laugh real hard at the time.

The X they had for the workshop had been driven hard for 900 odd KM and the chain was already on it's way out:eek:
