This week is not the best of times Ollie. I am snowed under with John Boys dealings for now.

I can do it next week if that is OK buddy???

Let me know, if you are stuck then I will make the effort.

Hi El,

A few people have said to me that all i really need is a oil change and filter - While I'm there I'm going to get them to check the car over re the wineing sound (Mitsubishi that is) and get them to change my front and rear dif oil, that I bought from oilman - I hope the oil change sorts the wineing - That would make me real happy!! :)

One other thing El - Mad Develoments are quite a lot more expensive than a lot of other tunning companies in the area and I know they are the nuts - Well Mark Shead is. I know he used those Autotronic ECU and completly remaps the car that way. I don't want to say the exact price on here it is a lot more than others by a long way.

However I'm sure it will be worth it :D - Hey mate.

Also I'm still up for a meet with you boys in Birmingham when ever me can - I just hope I don't need a dif or a transfer box. :(

Anyway bud - Always good to talk to you - If you wanna make a meet with the boys say friday or Saturday, Sunday next week just to have a meet up and to say Hi - That would be geat - Would love to meet you all, so let let me know asap bud, if you could do any of those days?

Cheers Buddy,

Ollie K

Don't jump the gun with the re-map just yet, it will nullify your warranty. If something happens to the engine then you will not be covered.

If I was going to get a re-map I would go to MAD if they were close enough, but hey, if they are way more expensive compared to everyone else, which I am sure that they are, why don't you go to someone that can carry out all the work including the head check etc. for the same price?

Have you had a quote from Jamie or Russ?

I am sure that you will get a better deal from Jamie on the work and it will still be cheaper on the wallet if you have to travel to him too!!!

You might also consider getting all oils and filters changed as well as the engine checked over as per the suppliers requirements from some where more reasonable or should I say competitive and then going to Russ for the map later on once the warranty period has expired.

El,

Sent my car to Mitsubishi for an engine check, oil change and filter - Also got my oils changed in both difs - They said the oil in the front dif was think and silver, basically was the wrong oil in there - Now its been changed, its quietened it right down. So thats where the noise was coming from. While I was there got my AYC fluid changed because that was old and mankey.

Running sweet as a nut. Just proves when people don't look after these cars properly, it causes all manor of problems.

Cheers,

Hello Ollie!
Sorry to cut in here but I was just wondering how much you were charged for that little bit of work right there i.e the dif oil and AYC fluid change.
We just bought a 6tme and with little history and I am going to check for insurance and servicing tomorrow as it's my day off.
Any help would be nice.

Hi MJ n Bigzy,

AYC fluid change was £70.20 changed - I bought the Dif oil myself from Oilman (Registered trader on here),2 litres for about £29 delivered and then Mitsubishi charged £45.52 to change the fluid, but they also checked my engine right over, as I just had a re con evo 6 engine put in.

If there isn't much history - I would get all you oils and fluids changed, just to be on the safe side. As you can see I had the wrong oil in one of my difs.

Hope this helps.

I think you must have gone over to the dealers on a good day mate;)

Either that or they are coming to their senses and charging according to customer satisfaction formulations:D

El

El,

I thought it was reasonable  - It does help though mate when you can talk to them like you know what you are talking about. So they may think twice about tucking you up. ;)

I told them what I wanted done and they did it - Got a free valet to. :)

I would not be surprised if it is still a IV engine Ollie because he would have listed it in the receipt. That said, I hope I am wrong.

I would have listed that for sure as it adds value to the car when it comes to selling it on.

If these guys have been in the game for as long as he claims then they probably are not bothered with that sort of thing as pointed out by Dave.

As long as the engine is in, it has warranty and you are driving it around, I don't think you should be worrying about it.

El

El,

Took my car to a locally machanic friend of mine for a simple oil and filter change - We checked the engine numner and i'm afraid its bad news I think anywany - The engine number reads like this:

4G63
TG4392

Please can everyone give me as much feedback as possable - I was told I was getting a re con evo 6 engine - What shall i do? I don't know what my old engine number was, as I understand that they aren't on the V5's, as they are grey imports!!!

What shall I do guys??? :hm:

Please help? :sad::sad::sad:

Cheers,

did they state it was an evo6 engine on the invoice??

No they just put it just saying replaced engine and gear box and the price, however I do have emails exchanged asking questions about certain things, about how they would get round things - I think it was John or Jamie meantioned something about evo 4 oil cooler pipes not fitting an evo 6 engine oil cooling - Have a look back through the thread mate - You'll see what I mean.

Thanks Bud!!

I told you from day one buddy to do the checks which would have meant that you would still have warranty etc.

The best thing that you can do is go through your paperwork and see if he has listed the engine as being from an Evo VI.

It would be worth going through your email correspondence too as he may have stated it in an email but not listed it on the invoice.

I suggest that you get in touch with a Solicitor and get a statutory declaration drawn up and speak to someone in Trading Standards right away.

For future reference, here is a cut and paste job:

http://www.evoowners.co.uk/f10/mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-engine-codes-2401.html#post15918

Let us know how you get on buddy.

im asstonished that u never checked this from day one and i personally think all they have done is change your bottom end as u wouldnt know your engine code and they would know this too

name and shame the garage on here so other people dont get tucked up by them

also i cannot for the life of me think why u paid out all that money on a 4 when u could of probably bought a v or vi anyway had u sold urs an put the money on top

or perhaps u like the iv more i dont know

i also think u dont have a leg to stand on regarding engine as invoice states replace engine etc

invoice would have said evo 6 on it somwhere

in short youve been done up like a kipper mate

Steve,

I'm badgering the guy for a new invoice saying evo 6 engine and then I've got him by the bollocks - Also I have a load of emails exchanged with him re how he is going to get around certain things from the 4 other parts fitting the 6 engine, like john or Jamie mention about the oil pipes.

I'm working on it now - Shit, just had a thought, what if he is checking this website????????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there anyway Nick or El can hide this thread for a few days until I get the revised invoice that was meant to of been in the post Monday!!

Also, check this out:
