Evo 4 GSR - Back to my Standard Re Circ Valve

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question for you all. I have put my standard re circ valve back on my car, from my HKS SSQV V.T.A, because it wasn't running perfect due to the idle set up. So I'm going to hang on to it until i get a re-map, with a 6 ecu or I'm going to Mark Shead @ Mad-Developments for a full stage 1.

Now the question is - I have heard that you can put your standard re circ valves on back to front to stop the waste gate chatter sound - Now I have done this and it doesn't make the waste gate chatter noise any more, it almost sounds like a little quiet whoosh when your going slow and the car is idleing perfect.

Is it ok to do this or is it going to put more ware on the turbo or do anything to the engine that could be harmful?

lots of people run with the std valve reversed as it gives them the 'rally chatter'

it is putting more strain on your turbo.....which people will warn you about.



....you never hear of them failing because of this though

I'm getting confused now - I may have put it on the correct way then. The nipple that goes back to the intake is now pointing left now, before it was pointing right and it used to make a weird noise (Which I that was the chatter sound),I can't explain it!! All I can say is that it hardly makes no noise at all now - Which is the correct way round mate?

I'll take a photo and show you how its connected up coz I’m not sure which side is the correct side - All I know is its as quiet as a mouse now on gear change and it runs lovely, if its round the other may it make that horrible chatter sound, which I don't like at all!

if you no longer have the chatter sound then I'd say the valve is in the factory/correct position.......if thats the way you prefer the car, then keep it as is

Thanks Sponners - I just makes a very little quiet woosh sound at the mo - So I reckon its right, plus it performs so much better and I hate that bloody chatter noise , why any one would like that noise, i do not know!

But thats again mate - I think I'm going to go for an upgraded qualaty re-circ (Any ideas?) and I may sell the HKS V.T.A SSQV, but I may not, not sure yet.

An interesting read up! I see that ya gone full circle:whistling: el has a nice upgrade recirculator valve in the for sale section, it's a bigun and designed only for the evo so ya can't go wrong. Won't sell it to me cause he reckons I gonna be profiting off it as I only gonna buy to sell on:whistling:
