sorry to hear about your loss, 1.5 bar boost on an standard early evo engine is suicidal, the mapper should of known better.
I wouldn't agree with that statement completely. I would agree there are risks associated with any map (particularly where the customer is chasing BHP figures) but in particular on older engines however blaming the mapper without all the information is grossly unfair. In addition the graphs have been uploaded with the company name on before they've had a chance to inspect the vehicle, establish cause and offer rectification if it's appropriate.
It is easy to "knee-jerk" in these situations but it would be wise to exercise caution in apportioning blame until all the facts are known.
(In case anyone is thinking "what does this guy know" I've suffered the pain of 3 engine and 2 turbo failures, all were mechanical failings and nothing to do with the mappers despite the opinions of many saying otherwise)
