sorry to hear about your loss, 1.5 bar boost on an standard early evo engine is suicidal, the mapper should of known better.

I wouldn't agree with that statement completely. I would agree there are risks associated with any map (particularly where the customer is chasing BHP figures) but in particular on older engines however blaming the mapper without all the information is grossly unfair. In addition the graphs have been uploaded with the company name on before they've had a chance to inspect the vehicle, establish cause and offer rectification if it's appropriate.

It is easy to "knee-jerk" in these situations but it would be wise to exercise caution in apportioning blame until all the facts are known.

(In case anyone is thinking "what does this guy know" I've suffered the pain of 3 engine and 2 turbo failures, all were mechanical failings and nothing to do with the mappers despite the opinions of many saying otherwise)

Good luck with the future on this, I feel your pain.

As I have said MANY TIMES!..... I wasn't willing to disclose the company's name. I did chose to get my car remapped and fiddled with and yes the old engine couldn't take the pressure. I believe the engine was just too old and couldn't take the pressure. I do however feel that running such a high bar was a bit dangerous and felt that at the time but 'hey I'm a girl what do I know'... The company has been very nice to me and are rebuilding my engine for me with all the new and used bits I'm getting to replace the broken (including forged pistons and rods!) then the company will be remapping again. I do trust the company and they have been friendly and helpful throughout and lets face it they cud have told me to f""k off as it was my risk but instead they are giving me 100's upon 100's £'s worth free labour to help in the rebuild.
So please can we drop it now n move on ha ha
Il try to get the poster to remove the map diagram as that was a genuine accident.

Also thanks to everyone on this forum for all ur help n for stevey n mrs for the block n bits :)

Roll on santa pod!

A really good post apart from the "I'm a girl, what do I know" part. I appreciate you were probably being sarcastic but if anyone really thinks that they do so at their peril. A couple of the MLR members I know are very technically knowledgeably ladies able to offer sound advice as well as driving their Evo's in the way they were designed for.

I hope you don't feel I was being critical of you girlywithanevo3 as I wasn't, in fact the opposite, others posting on your thread were jumping to unfair conclusions and I felt a need to defend the honour of the garage which as it turns out was justified as they're helping you out.

I hope it all works out for you and you're back on the road soon. All the best.

Yes I was being very sarcastic lol. It's the opinion of most places I go though when I ask questions or talk about my car lol. They look at me and say don't worry love we will do what's needed or something like that lol. I dnt take stuff like that to heart really, who cares, it's just the way we wer brought up...our worlds almost but not quite fully adapted to the idea of women mechanics and soldiers and make nurses and hairdressers lol x
