hi all, I'm looking at buying my first evo, I'm after an evo 9 MR FQ 340 / 360, might go for a 320 if need be, but for some reason, good reason, the insurance is the same for them all :wtf:

id spend unto about £15k for one, preferably standard...ish, with minimal miles, service history is a must, and id like to buy one thats been owned by an enthusiast.

so id like to know, if or what are the problems with the evo 9 MR's? i know the evo 7's have weak rod pins, was that fixed on the later models?

I've has bikes since i was 16, the last one was a ducati 749s, which i loved inside and out, tool it to the 'ring and had sooooo much fun, i had my first car at 18, a BMW 316i Coupe, which i still have, and its getting a bit tired now, so I'm going to show it some love, then move it on to make room for a fire breathing monster :D
i think its safe to say I'm a complete and utter raging petrol head, if its fast expensive, dangerous and burns fuel I'm in!

i was building a track car last year, in the form of a nissan 200SX S13, i stripped it completely and had it on tyres in my unit, removed all the rust, stitch welded the whole chassis, started collecting all the parts, and as i was about to start putting it back together... i lost my job  so it all had to go  but all is well in paradise now!

anyways, thanks for reading my jibber-jabber, ill be quiet now.

id consider a "normal" FQ model, but me being the tart i am, preferably an MR model, why do you have one in mind?

Hello and welcome !

You won't go wrong with a IX MR. Just cos the seats are the best :)

It'll handle 400bhp all day long and be hassle free :)

As you said really, good history which doesn't have to be main dealer as there are some good specialists out there that know alot more than the dealers do and also won't rip you off :)

Feel free to post up any links to cars for sale for our opinions :)

thanks for the welcome, i think I'm going to hang on, and wait for either a red or gunmetal grey MR FQ 360/340 comes along, I'm trying to convince myself to like the silver ones as they're seems to be loads about.

as requested, heres a few pics of my past machines, i don't have any photos of my 2nd bike, which was a Cagiva Mito 125, its basically a 125 version of the 916 Ducati.

yup, the entire shell was stripped back to the bare metal, and stitch welded, i was hoping for the most ridged chassis possible, i wasn't worried about comfort at all, it was going to be an all out track car, with number plates... but then the recession bit me
