engine trouble again

Hey guys, just had some bad news today and need a little help getting to the bottom of it. Had my engine rebuilt, did about 900 miles in it and all seemed great and i was quite happy with the car. Had the car go back to the garage for the oil to be changed at 996 miles and for a tapping noise to what i was told was the auxiliary belt tensioner, so i bought a new one and had it fitted at the same time, got the car back and noticed same slight tapping noise driving home and that got worse before i reached my house, so started a thread and thought it maybe lash adjusters, mechanic agreed, so i went away again and spent £105 for a new set had them fitted by same mechanic that did the re-build and noise was still same just more above cylinder 1 this time rather than cylinder 2. As it turns out my car has bent the rod in cylinder 1, wore down the big end bearings and scored the crank. I am seriously hacked off and now dont know what to do or who is responsible for the damage. I ran it in properley and changed oils when i should have along with the filters kept well under 3000 revs running it in as well.
Was advised of the damage today and im so angry that something very simmilar to the first time when my piston melted inside cylinder 1 has happened again just not as bad. I am thinking that when my engine was stripped and re-built they have not investigated fully what caused the damage in the first place thus causing the crap thats happened this time after the build. Was advised could be one of 2 things that may have happened, 1st being some oil jet in the cylinder isnt working right and not lubricating the piston as it should, 2nd its a fuel starvation problem to cylinder 1 with the fuel jet. My understanding and what i paid for was a strip of the engine, find fault, correct it, repair all and re-build. it has cost me in excess of £3000 to this garage to have the work done and now i have no idea to who is responsible or who is going to pay for this to get sorted out. Mechanic said he will fix it but never mentioned to whos cost. Any help guys please.... I am so desperate right now......

Sorry to hear it mate. I hope they agree to cover cost as it sounds like you say it wasn't properly investigated. I would say another engine is the way forward

Yeah got my car checked and it turns out when they did the engine re-build they never checked my fuel injectors and one of them supplying piston one isn't getting enough fuel through, this caused the piston and conrod to heat up, conrod has taken most of the heat and bent inside the cylinder, the bend has caused the big end bearings to wear down on one side and dug into the crank. My car now has to come apart again new conrod, new big end bearings oversized, and a crank re-grind. Garage is going to fix it all at their cost, they took full blame for it, good of them since they did drive it away when they should have. Just looking forward to getting it back now so I can sell it and try get a cheaper car.

Ah well least they owned up and accepted the blame and are repairing it for you They could have refused which would have made the whole process a nightmare
