Di-D overboost

Ok, so my lancer 2009 2.0 di-d experiences limp mode when the engine is cold normally for the first 10-15 minutes but seems fine once warm.
Once in limp mode i can turn off the engine and start up again and the power is back. There are no engine warning lights.
Mitsubishi put it on their machine and it threw up overboost, and something about a geometry sensor.
I was pointed to the actuator on the top of the turbo which has a sensor on it and i was told it cant be replaced and i need a whole new turbo at the cost of 2k before fitting.
The diesel engine is a tried and tested VW unit and is shared amongst a bunch of other cars such as the seat cupra, skodas, vw etc and this problem comes up a lot as far as i've read.
It gets misdiagnosed as a turbo problem and its usually a vac leak, sticking vanes or the actuator but theres no mention of replacing the actuator.
I can find actuators for other turbo models but cant seem to find the one of the vw engine in the lancer.
The turbo is a garret GT16 as far as i can find.
Can anyone help me with this issue, i don't really want to spend 2k+ after only buying the car two weeks ago. Ideally i would like to buy a new actuator.

Do you have a boost gauge fitted? So you can see what boost it is. Could also be the boost solenoid. Best thing to do a test is plumb the turbo air pipe to the actuator and you should run a steady 0.8 bar. Without a gauge it's a case of noticing if the cars boost changes or not. If the car runs smooth and doesn't go to limp it's the solenoid which you can pick up a boost controller cheap enough, if the boost fluctuates it's the actuator and it don't cost nowhere near 2k just speak with a trader on here for a price

I think there is a digital boost gauge on the speedo in the same menu as the mpg readout and fuel gauge. I would have to check the manual to see if that is what it is.
The car runs perfectly smooth, i only know its gone into limp mode when i press the go faster pedal and theres nothing there.

Little update on this.
There is a boost gauge on the speedo like i thought, but it doesn't change when in limp mode.
Its not gone into limp mode for a week which is a bit odd.
I spoke to turbo dynamics who are the garret distributors for the uk and they advised that it will be sticky vanes inside the turbo rather than the sensor or anything else. They said they don't recommend rebuilding it as the vanes are sensitive to this?
They offered me a new replacement for £770 which is a lot cheaper than mitsubishi wanted.
As its not happened for several journeys now i'll just keep going as i am and get the turbo changed in the summer.
Ive been driving it harder than the previous owner according to the gps tracks, they only seemed to have driven it 15 miles around a city here for the last year so it could have got clogged up since it never reached a good temperature.
