Ok, so my lancer 2009 2.0 di-d experiences limp mode when the engine is cold normally for the first 10-15 minutes but seems fine once warm.
Once in limp mode i can turn off the engine and start up again and the power is back. There are no engine warning lights.
Mitsubishi put it on their machine and it threw up overboost, and something about a geometry sensor.
I was pointed to the actuator on the top of the turbo which has a sensor on it and i was told it cant be replaced and i need a whole new turbo at the cost of 2k before fitting.
The diesel engine is a tried and tested VW unit and is shared amongst a bunch of other cars such as the seat cupra, skodas, vw etc and this problem comes up a lot as far as i've read.
It gets misdiagnosed as a turbo problem and its usually a vac leak, sticking vanes or the actuator but theres no mention of replacing the actuator.
I can find actuators for other turbo models but cant seem to find the one of the vw engine in the lancer.
The turbo is a garret GT16 as far as i can find.
Can anyone help me with this issue, i don't really want to spend 2k+ after only buying the car two weeks ago. Ideally i would like to buy a new actuator.
