Hey all........me again:blush:

I was looking to wire in my fog lamp and realised there is a switch in the little coin pocket on the very right of the driverside, took it out and it has what appears to be household 2-core cable running from it. Traced it back and found it was TAPED, yes TAPED a wire in the back of the speedo cluster plug.

Here is a pic, it appears that it is a black and white cable about 5 pins down.......any ideas what it could be for would be a massive help!

Weird.

I'm finding a few oddly done wiring jobs in my car lately as I strip wires back from stuff I done use anymore.

Found gauge looms, vacuum pipe for a boost gauge, and loads of alarm wire from when that was fitted amazing what some places do and where they will shove excess wire.

Google a wiring diagram for the speedo and work out what the pins do. I'd imagine it's some form of illumination button on/off for gauges or something.

Anything to do with wires i would take it to a proper auto electrician they will be able to tell you what its for or what it has been used for.

What about here

http://www.*******************/showthread.php?t=116419

Replace the stars like I said earlier.

Looks as though it's the 12volt ignition wire, the switch was probably an attempt at a security switch, possibly you had to press it before the car would start?

Seen similar attempts done before but on different parts that help to start the car like fuel pump etc etc

I bet you have to press the button to activate it.

Hence you never needing it. It may not even work looking at its bodgery lol. I'd I'd cut it out solder up and heat shrink it.
