just want your guys view on this,

well i thought i might of found the right car,but turns out not!

i have been looking at a evo 8 fq300 in sleaford and i was hoping it was the one.

It is a real credit to its two previous MLR (Mitsubishi Lancer Register) owners and to Nick @ NR Autosports NR Autosport - Performance Mitsubishi Specialists who has done a fantastic job at maintaining and upgrading it since 2005.

AYC is working perfectly and has just has new AYC fluid this week.

I have all receipts / old MOTs etc.

MOT'd until 27/01/14, passed MOT with NO advisories / I have just taxed it for Six months (starting from the 1st march)

Private plate is staying on the car if the buy it now price is met.

Recently had 4 x Vredestein sessanta tyres within the last few hundred miles so they are as new.

I recently took the car to Nick at NR Autosports with suspect head gasket failiure as it was using water, it turns out the head gasket going had caused the bottom end to crack.

I had NR Autosports source me a replacement engine out of an evo 7 and change all the belts and gaskets etc and build it up with the ancilaries: Oil cooler, inlet manifold, turbo, manifold etc. from my old engine at a cost of £3,700. The engine was purchased by Nick from a reputable source and he has given me a warranty on the replacement engine for peace of mind.

when i asked if he had anything to prove the milage on the new evo7 he said no. i mean if thats the case the engine could of done 10000 or 100000 miles, who knows. i just cant believe he has spent £3700 on a engine and they didnt tell him the milage of it.. bare in mind he wants 9k for this car, which does look clean in the pictures. i dont think its worth that much now due to the problem i have just said!

what would you say its worth????????

It dosent matter what the milage is on an engine IMO as the key to a long lasting reliable engine is those first few services while its being run in and then being maintained properly thereafter. My second car is a galant with over 165k miles and it never misses a beat, partly down to the fact is had 10 main dealer services from new.

With any second hand engine or car, you'll never be able to be 100% sure of how it was treated. At least this add documents what service history the rest of the car has had and if he has proof of the work for the engine change and is honest about it being changed then thats a pretty good start.

Id go see it, listen to the engine, see how it drives and most of all see how genuine the owner seams. Any doubts, just walk away. :)

Also a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay, so I cant really give an opion on its worth :D

Isn't a evo 7 engine the same as the 5 and 6 and not as strong as the 8 engine??? Or am I dreaming it?

simon said they are the same engine! just spoke to nick at nr and he said he done the work but they didnt ask about the milage from where they got the engine, but is gonna try and find out for me... aint to sure what to do!

Thats what I mean, at least you know its had another one fitted rather than it being changed and not being mentioned/proved in the sale. At my garage we've fitted many second hand engines and you never get any history with them, its just one of those things.

The only thing I would be wary of, is that its recently been changed and now the owner wants to sell. I would find out his reason for selling as he claims to have just forked out nearly 4k on it and I know if id just spent that kind of money on a car I'd be keeping it :)
