Buying an Evo 9 this weekend. Anything to look out for?

Hi guys. Like the title says, I'm picking up an evo 9 on Saturday. At the moment I've got a leon cupra R modded and mapped to 280bhp but it's time for an upgrade I think. I've seen a nice fq300 with a miltek turbo back, eibach springs and bilstein shocks (maybe the other way round) and a rallisport ecu so it's pushing approx 350bhp apparently, with 70k on the clock for 9750 but no tax and it's in the mental tax bracket so let's call it 10k. Is that a reasonable mileage on these motors and is there anything I should look out for or is it just the usual stuff and with any luck I should be getting a decent enough deal on a decent enough motor?

Interested in this so called Rallisport ecu!!! Any link's to the car mate? Seem's rather cheap to me tbh! considering if it's in the mental tax bracket,it has to be registered from 1st March 2006!

I messaged Ryan but he hasn't replied yet, but i also messaged the seller and asked if he knows someone called Ryan and he said his mate Ryan has advertised it on facebook. He seems legit. I won't just be rocking up with 10k in my back pocket anyway, he'd have to have a pretty good plan to get away with my money....

Is there anything I should look out for on the motor or are they pretty solid and I should be good?

Think your ok with this one mate! Usual stuff really to check for! Make sure all the ayc lights come on and then go off. Some people have been known to remove dash light bulbs or even flick them to make them appear blown to hide faults.

A good 15 minute at least test drive is a wise idea on these vehicles as it will make sure everything is upto temperature and you can easily see if any faults appear within this time frame. Check engine is stone cold prior to you starting it.

Ah cool, thanks. I'll give the car a good test drive and check it over properly but because I live near Cambridge and he's in Scotland he's driving quite a way to meet me, so that car won't be stone cold. That only alternative is me driving all the way to Scotland and that doesn't sound appealing tbh

Well if he's driving down,then you can safely say there isn't much wrong (if anything) with it!!

Will do, thanks for the help. I'm sure it's going to be a beast anyway, especially compared to my Leon, but I'm already debating whether to spend any more on it doing it up lol I'm one of them people who enjoys working on and doing up cars nearly as much as I do driving them. It's starting to be an expensive habit lol i think I'll throw on an induction kit and a BOV to give it a bit more presence, and then possibly get it custom mapped because I'm fairly sure it's just got a generic off the shelf map atm, and then I can see what power it's actually laying down and decide to go where from there

Haha the first time that really set it was when I saw it's gonna cost me 500 quid to tax the bloody thing for a year!! I haven't got a lead foot on the short daily drive to work normally, so I'm hoping my small commuting cost won't go up too much, but when I take it out for a thrash I can see me coming home with my wallet quite a few quid emptier than when I left... I'll have a pretty big grin on my face when I get home though

Well it is a growing market mate and it's the old tale of first come first severed,hence why you should always get straight on it or hand over some cash to secure the deal.
