bit of advice potential evo purchase

basically been emailing this chap who is thinking of parting with his evo.
He has owned the car for 9 years and the 3rd owner from new.
Car was originally an import (evo 7)

Anyway, it seems a fairly nice car, only minor issues, slight rust on the arch lip, inner arches appear to be fine, even checked behind fuel filler from inside the boot, same on drivers side.

Car has tonnes of receipt and forged 2.3engine etc all with receipt's aswell.

by look of it though, it doesn't have a service book (will double check),has all the invoices of all the services he's had done in his ownership majority done by the people that built the engine, then they shut down, and rest done by auto torque.

Should this be a reason to be put off the car?? I guess in some people's minds having no stamped service book means technically no service history I guess.

What are your views on this??

By the way, history does not just mean stamps in a book these days. For £60 you can buy history for almost any car on egay

Reputable engineer. Real shame that he went bust.

Don't touch anything Steve hill built they built mine 3 times and still couldn't get it right

Dave was an alright bloke wasn't he? I know a fair few guys that used to have their evos serviced by him over the road and I bought a few Evo's over the years that were his regulars. We're they known for botch jobs?

well from what I gather, current owner knew steve fairly well and helped each other out with things.

How often mileage and time did you have the engines redone?? As this was built in 2012, but only covered 3500miles in that time

First engine 300 miles 2nd was around 1000 and the one that I just gave up on is 4500k I know 3-4 people that have used them or there engineers that are still out there for other companies that are awful
Servicing they were fine but builds they rushed

From what I can tell, service wise they were good and their own car was a little special.

As for their build reputation, it's kind of 50/50 so you will have to make your own mind up I'm afraid.
