overfueling and missfire

:cry:everytime i floor it it backfiers and loses power and then there is a stong smell of fuel but its not doing it all the time .and allso it is drinking fuel like mad i did 160 miles at 70 to 80 mph and used a full tank just got the car so dont know mutch about it all i know it has not been remaped its an evo 4 with a e5 engine in gunner try my mates evo 5 ecu to see if that solves it .
i need all the help i can get with this thanks :cry:

Evo 5 engine with std 4 ecu will mean you have the bigger injectors (560 red top) than the ecu is set up for from the 4 injectors (510 yellow top). Thats probably the reason your drinking fuel. But 160miles to the tank is prob avg for most people with an evo lol

Change the plugs for some BPR8ES with a 0.55mm gap may solve your missfire. Check the plugs anyway for overfuelling signs. If changing the plugs doesn't help then it may be a coil pack has broken down. Find the missfire cylinder and change the coil pack with another to see if it moves.

right just checked engine number and its come up has a e4 and not e5 :disgusted: and has red injectors so i need some yellow ones then

No just get a 5 or 6 ecu. There plug and play and you can then get it remapped aswell

The 5/6 ecu is already setup to run the bigger (560 red top) injectors. Check the ecu (located in the passenger footwell, behind glove box, bolted to side panel) If its a metal case its std 4 ecu. If its black case then you already have a 5/6 ecu and the missfire is your plugs or coil packs

and in a few weeks i will have got hold of a ralliart ecu .big thanks to rob
