Spec-R has been tried and tested by MADevelopments;) test fit me no:whistling:

Not as much as the AMS ;) I spoke to him today Im waiting on your test fitting to see what size can I want and where its going to go as my hardpipe is running V close to the intake and Tbody area so think it will have to go like duster queens over by my new mini battery !! Shes gunna look mint !

Sounds an over kill that spec with a standard turbo.

Over kill currently Yes hence the quiet map around 400-430 ish and 400 torque then when forge and bigger turbo we can unleash her fully, I was going to do all this at once but the forge job and all this done properly would have pushed the bank a bit so couldnt and had to do it in stages :whistling:

You know your going to have to cut the bumper with an ams cooler don't you! Why don't you go for a Spec-R jobbie with all custom pipework and a nice Tial bov

Not the non race ones, Nick. The AMS race cooler is the only one you have to cut the bumper on :)

With AMS, you're probably right Nick! I believe the non-race core is 2.5" thick and the tanks point rearward a little to allow the pipes to run around the back of the bumper, the race core... well its just brutally large lol!

I'd say overkill also. Manifolds not needed to reach 400/400 the stand ones were still on my 460bhp VII and my 500bhp tommi still has the standard inlet as do alot of other cars.

I think they are more for show and the 600+bhp boys.

You will be fine fitting that AMS cooler, thats the same one Ter had on his 525bhp IX and didn't need to trim the bumper for the pipes. Standard pipes fit fine :)

Fair enough but it would be a more enjoyable car at the stage 1 level.

IMO to reach 400ibft you may need cams.

It does say it in first post LoL

I did speak to tuner about cams but decided the inlet would be the way to go until I get tubby etc

It looks to me like Jonny is a knowledgeable guy, far more so that me on the car and clearly the so call 'overkill' is to prevent paying for stuff he will no longer need at a later date or more likely to have installed more than once.

However for 400/400 there seems to be mixed views on best way to get there.

I want to replace my tubular manifold as it came on the car and is clearly sub-standard but there seems to be a view it maybe cheaper to just put a standard one back on and that will hold good for 400/400?

So can 400/400 be obtained on standard internals or is that pushing them too hard. (ie with exhaust upgrade, induction, BOV, apexi avc-r and map or does it depend on what model iX you start with as think mine was 297bhp from the shop standard so other parts maybe weak?

There's Jonny wanting to spend cash like its going out of fashion and me wanting to save money! lol

LOL I know rock all compared to some on here LOL

and youre right I am doing it save cost at a later date, My car was a 340 but then had 3" de cat, Nur spec cat back, SSQV BOV and 3 port solenoid, then I had a remap and went on rollers and made 350 odd :disgusted:, this was most likely the map though as I then went for another remap from IndigoGt and all is well with the car and feels very good to drive and very quick, I havent had it on the rollers since this remap as I knew work was being carried out and new parts were going to be added but once all the work is done ill be heading back down to powerstation to have it all looked at on the rollers.

I am spending a few bob yes but want it all right this time with no messing about i n the future when it comes to furthering the build on the car.

Unless im wrong, most of the MR cars are the same except for a remap for the power until you get to the 360 then its exhaust, panel filter and remap ???

So unsure how it can affect the power that much, if you do a stage 1 to a 340 to get it to 400 and a 360 to get it to 400, you change the same parts (mostly) so now im confused as LOL

I have an import IX GT (non uK model/spec),purchased about 3 weeks back. It's been into a local Jap performance garage for a 27K B service and they have identified a few problem as well as doing their best to determine what has currently been done to it. Personally I think I bought a bit more of a lemon than I had expected but knew it needed a bit of work.

An old graph on DD rollers showed 390 at 1.5bar but the graph was pants to say the least and think this was a numbers game rather than trying to set a decent useable map!!
The mods I know I have are;
HKS induction and HKS BOV
Decat
chocolate manifold!!
walbro l255
Apexi- avc-r
some sort of map (I think the garage I took it to thinks it may well have an ECUtek ECU.
5-speed gearbox and Mivec
Apparently came off the production line with 287bhp/289lbft.

I am told it has a magnesium compressor wheel which is weak so that is my main concern. But still learning.

I think its best for me to give it to my Jap Performance Gargae and let them loose on it but it does help if you know what others are doing (or have done) to get an idea as I may prefer to use alternative parts to those they suggest

It's a 4g63 block, Ct9A code.

From what I can determine it came from the factory
So theory is it is running a stage 1/1+ at moment

All I can say at the moment its not even close in comparison performance wise to my old car (a modified 320bhp Seat Cupra K1) and my view is it should be at least as good or better!

Right then, lots of people run 400/400 w on Evo 8MR and Evo IX internals without any problem and it don't matter if you have a 300 or a 320/330/340 cos they are all just slightly tweaked versions of the 300 via mapping and boost levels.

yeah i will be useing 8 rod's and piston's with the end goal of 400/400. As long as its mapped good shouldn't be a prob. :)

What sort of power are u aiming for once the car has been forged and has a bigger turbo??
Might help people decide if u need all those parts...
Luckly i bought a car with most of that already fitted :) so just needs a forged engine and big turbo....
