El I think the rules are also in place to help the staff over there that try and deal with sales gone bad, i.e, they have a few ways to try and contact a paid up member but not a 'non-paying member'. Personally I think the taking PMs away isn't the brightest idea, but again, they say it is to stop private trading by 'non-paying' members.

As for the for-sale section. Numerous paying members were making some noise about getting stung by the non-paying members and calling for it to be for members who have paid, despite the fact alot of the dodgy sales (imo) are through the ones who have paid their £35, so I suppose the Admin have listened in the end.

To quote a member over their, one of the nice guys. "Hammer to crack a nut", seems appropriate enough term to use.

Noticed that the newbie section seems to be getting busier, good times :), hopefully the ones that are knobs, will stay over there.

Matt :)

Hopefully the bad eggs will stay over there, I never found it a friendly place to be honest, too many people looking to jump on your every comment and start an argument. The first meet i ever went to with the MLR was at Bluewater and found myself standing around with a couple of other new guys/girls chatting amongst ourselves as the "old timers" were not interested in talking to you at all.

Gladly i was directed here which is very friendly with some great banter! I am very much looking forward to the fast show!

If this genuinly was the ONLY reason they put the new system into place, then why not have it so you get nowt for free (as it is now), £2 to use the forum & PM's (that way they have peoples addy's, etc, because they need to pay by some form of card just like the normal membership), then £35 for the full shabang.

That would have been fine. I'm sure everyone would happy pay a £2 one-off payment in order to use PM's and the for sale section. That way, the MLR also have everyones details on record.

Their excuses are bullshit. SSSOOOOO many other ways they could have implemented a safer system without charging so much. £35 for a forum is a pisstake. I pay to several forums (be them car related or not), and the most expensive is £25, but I have been there since Jan 2002, they are some of the nicest guys you'll meet, VIP members get free legal advice which on it's own is worth more than £25, and several other perks that I won't post about on here, but well worth the money in the end.

What do you get for your £35 on MLR, a lanyard worth £5 and a calender worth another £5, and a magazine that gets binned every month. Oh, and being in Scotland, hardly any places give discounts around here when I was a member over there. All the discounts were for tuners down south, hardly worth the £35 is it?!

Hehe I love it it's gone all to UC over there since Aidy became a mod.

What about the foreign members they get UC all out of it as well:hm:

Last year the calender was worth it cos my car was in it this year I gave it away, the magazine is quarterly not monthly;)

£35 notes is a lot of wonga just for the privilege of perhaps buying faulty 2nd hand goods or possibly being ripped off by some of the nicest members and non-members of the evo world, and of course not forgetting the PMs where traders will pm you rather than telling everyone how much cheaper they are not for their products because they don't want a slanging match on a not so public forum it seems:mad:

Ranty over I feel enlightened:wub::wub:

We run things a little differently here, I do not take kindly to folks over stepping the mark, offending other members for personal amusement, taking the mickey out of members that are looking for advice, abusive language, religious hatred, spam posting, selling a fellow member inferior or damaged items and then taking the piss out of them for not knowing better.....................

In short buddy, they will not last long here if they plan to go on the way that they have grown accustomed to! ;)

We are a Community of like minded individuals and that is the main reason as to why we all get on like a house on fire.

I, for one, am not interested in changing things around here no matter how much we grow.

El
