boost problems? and a rattle in the manafold

ive just removed a ebc and fitted a man 1 long story why.. but with the man bc fitted its want to run 25 plus psi wont let me lower it .. what am i doin wrong ??:ninja:

allso my evo 4 has a tublur manafold looks like 1 OF THEM £100 EBAY JOBS theres a strange rattle comeing from what sounds like in side of it. checked all bolts as thats what it sounds like when you rev the car up. any ideas ??

Stick to the ebc mate, they are less fiddly and as for your rattle I would put money on the fact that there is a split in the manifold

Check gaskets yea and also check the pipes and welds for splits cos this is what normally happens to the cheap manifolds. You'll probably have to take it off to check it properly

Yes it would sound like that if there is a small split in it and it's not to bad to remove. If you have checked all the bolts then removal to inspect is the next step. The split may only be tiny so you'll have to look very close.
Have you also checked all 5 bolts that hold the exhaust elbow to the turbo ?

loop a pipe directly to the actuator to see what pressure its operating at.


what actuator is on it?

all sorted now was plumbed in wrong , ive swoped boostcontrooler for a apexi avcr,
manafold is blowing so swapin back to a standed 1,
and ive got a funny noise as well its the aircon pump so i will be removeing that ,

but does any 1 no what size belt i will need once the aircon is removed???

Avcr is a good bit of kit, well done.

As for the mani if it was a cheap eBay one and it cracked then your probably better off with the standard one anyway

Got to your local motorfactors and they will be able to sell you a gates belt which is availible for rs models which don't have aircon so just what you need and if you ask for it in the morning then they should be able to get you one for the afternoon. My local motorfactors did this for me
