You could but wouldn't gain anything. You'd save undoing the 6 bolts that hold the transfer to the gearbox that's all

It's on my 8 , don't you have to drop the subframe to get the transfer box out ?

Evo 8 is not effected by this as it has a different diff

The 7/8/9 has a plated diff. Perhaps it needs new plates. Or maybe it's just a cv joint.

hey lee would worn out top mounts have any effect on making random noises on turns?

maybe. as could worn anti roll bar bushes and also make sure the 4 front subframe bolts

thanks for the info mate.. my car seems to do this like 40% of the time on tight turns but only on half turns.. I once lock the steering on right but didnt hear it.. on rough roads going in a straight I can hear a mild clunck coming from the front drivers side I think thats got to do with top mounts

could also be inner tie rods or track rod ends. you need to check it all before start replacing parts
