I'm sure someone will want to know this information at some time....
The Evo IV is common to have an ABS ring brake/fail.
These toothed rings are called, Reluctor rings, also know as target ring, sensor ring, Tone ring.
Rust builds up behid the ring, and brakes. Or, in my case, the car has had a knock.
The Evo IV has a rear reluctor ring size of...
68mm inner, 78mm outer, 7mm thickness, with 43 teeth.
(when in good condition)
To replace this reluctor ring, all you need do is, carefully pry off the dirt shield infront of the ring, and then pry off the ring its self. Do the slowly and carefully, as they're only cast. This can be used as a sacrificial drift for the replacement.
The new versions for almost all cars are easily found, from £10 to £45.
However the Evo IV doesn't seem very available!!
Most say, the only replacement is a complete new shaft!!!:disgusted:
Or replacement CV joint kit.:wtf:
Used shafts are available, however not as easy done as said!!
Due to some incompident courriers, who manage to somehow, loose the shaft from the packaging, and say they'll re-package, and attemt delivery again, after 1 week!!
I wish I'd driven the 1 hour 45 minute journey to collect now.
So, if you can find someone who has a damaged shaft, or worn CV joint, they may carefully remove the reluctor ring for you??:whistling:
If I do find a new reluctor ring to the above dimensions, i'll let you know.
By the way, does anyone have a used damaged shaft, or a worn CV joint, they could pry off the Reluctor Ring, and post for me at a small cost? lol
Hope this helps someone out in the future, if they're unfortunate enough to encounter this problem.
