Sorry, it's not an Evo.

I have a 2011 Ralliart Lancer Sportback GS, has much in common with the Evo X.
I want to replace the small oem intercooler with the larger one from the X and put in hard pipes and then a remap. Not after huge power, just better use of what is there, no track work.
There is on ebay a regular seller of Evo X i/c and hard pipe kit at a VERY attractive price. Now one part of me says if it is that cheap it must be rubbish but possibly worth a 'chance'.
I did contact them and they replied that as it was an aftermarket kit then some modification may be required but couldn't say what as they hadn't actually fitted one.
So I just wondered if anyone has tried to fit one and how they got on with it?

Cheers

Brian.

You won't see no gains in power by fitting a larger intercooler though so why bother:confused: Hard pipes for a bit of engine bling look nice but again no power gains:)

Thanks for the reply.
Perhaps I didn't explain too well. I realise that a larger i/c and hard pipes in themselves will do very little. However as the oem i/c on the Sportback is much smaller than an Evo X one then any remap is limited. My understanding was that to improve the stock 237 bhp then the safest option was the larger i/c and hard pipes to maintain a good charge flow ?
A remap without this change is very limited in what it can achieve.

Cheers

Your standard intercooler should be more than capable of flowing enough cool air to exceed your power levels. However if you was to fit a larger intercooler I would go for a well known branded one such as APS, AMS etc. rather than a ebay jobbie or if your really feeling flush give pete at Spec-R a ring and have custom made pipes and intercooler but no way would I be fitting ebay bargains.

Edit to add I'm sure I read somewhere by having a larger intercooler could also have a negative effect on performance as well. I'm sure a more techy geek on here could confirm this as well.
