I used to be a tagger back in the days before I was shipped out.

Some refer to it a scribing as I specialised in glass, i.e (bus and shop windows)! :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

I used to have a portfolio and one day my dad recognised my handy work at the local supermarket and enough was enough as far as he was concerned!

For those of you who do not know what I am on about, take a look at this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scribing_(graffiti)

If you are still none the wiser then this should clear it up, it is a basic Tag by some one I have been keeping an eye on in NY City who has started using a unique acid mixed in with his paint which makes it almost impossible to remove the tag. Even when removed it erodes the glass leaving his tag there permanently.

Mines were more extravagant as I was old schooll!!!  :D :D :D

Well, my tag was "dopesta" from day one.

"el" was added to it meaning "The definite dopesta" as newbies on the scene started to mimic it in my absence claiming they were me.

The old school crew that I used to roll with started to add "el" to it when they would come across my tags, as a tagger you can tell who has made the tag regardless of how similar it may look. There are many tell tale signs as it is an art and based around hand writing with a preferred scribe.

My preferred scribe was a 30mm bullet marker with a sock elastic banded around the nib to give it texture.

I might be adding more confusion to the whole thing so I guess I will leave it at that for now.

I was into the Gansta Rap scene when I was around 11 as I never quite liked Pop.

Due to this I used to subscribe to Word Up! Magazine and was influenced heavily by West Coasters Like NWA, Ice T, Cypress Hill and from the East Coast it was EPMD.

Every thing at that time was refereed to as "dope", the closet word to this nowadays in slang terminology is "sick" :D

There was already a "dope" on the scene at the time in France so as it was taken already I added "sta" which was an acronym for Subways Trains & Automotive which covered my haunts! :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

There is a lot behind a tag which most people will dismiss as hooliganism.

I used to get paid from time to time when I was a teenager by Birmingham City Council to do the do so I guess some considered that I had skills ;)

For those of you who have my email address, you will notice that my account name is still my tag, as it was set up back in the days to correspond with other taggers around the world.

I no longer have a portfolio but this is how I used to spell it:

el dopestä

If any one is interested then I can mock something up tomorrow and post it on this thread.
