Working on electrics

Sorry to bother you all with these newby questions. I want to tidy up some of the electrics under the bonnet and in particular the gizzmo boost controler wires. To be safe should I disconnect the battery and if I do will there be any consequences other than reprogramming the radio.

No consequences except it will reset everything. You may need to do a base idle reset if it starts stalling on you once warm or your idle fluctuates wildly

its safer to disconnect the battery, although if you make sure you cut one cable at a time then you should be ok

I want to wire the Gizzmo boost controler into the live wire to the cigarette lighter so that it will only be live when the ignition is on. It is currently on the radio feed and is on all the time.
Question which of the 4 wires going to the cigarette lighter is the live feed from the ignition switch. I have :-
Black with white dashes
green and white
Blue and orange
Black and yellow

One or more of these will be for the light around the cig lighter.

there is a switched 12 that goes to the stereo also, i guess you've used the wrong feed ffom memory one is red and one is yellow, just test with a multimeter

Just use the ignition wire on the back of the stereo its a lot easier than goin off cig lighter
