ooh look, new steering wheel

this is from an rs model so straight swap but with a couple mods required required to get the horn to work and the airbag light to so out but the passenger side one still to work.

the rs wheel just has a copper ring as a contact point for the horn so was just a case of finding a suitable strip of metal to bend into shap so it spring loaded onto contact point on the wheel. conect to this a bit of wire from the metal strip to the loom plug the the horn wire was pluged into before.

then the air bag. its a case of fooling the ecu into thinking the airbag is still there. this is done by looping a bit of wire between the 2 contacts in the loom plug. this loop of wire must contatain a 3om resister, simple

the rs wheel is slightly smaller than the normal gsr wheel and slightly thicker and has a better feel so nicer and better to hold onto

Right then, time for another update.

After some recent gear selection issues and my up and coming euro trip I decided although there was no major problem, something needed looking at.
So out came the gearbox and I discovered my twin plate clutch was not only very low on the friction plates but also all the material that was on the friction plates was clogging the clutch assembly. Which ment the plats weren't able to move freely which ment I was getting clutch drag.
So I ordered some new friction plates from indigo-gt and though while the gearbox is out and I have a mate who works at a gearbox specialist that I may as well get the box checked out.
It came back with no faults what so ever which was a relive

So with the clutch back in and the gearbox ready it was an ideal time to replace the 2 steering rack tie rods. Nothing really bad with mine but I was starting to get a bit of play so best to change them with some nice new Mitsi ones.

Next job is to finish off fitting my new catch can and rocker cover.
Cover has had its lettering smoothed off and AN -10 fittings installed

I've swapped the black hose for some nice stainless braided stuff and also bought some black fittings more pics of this to follow

Job done and gearbox back in it was time to fill it up with some of the good stuff
Engine oil change time too Thanks to opie oils for the excellent price and delivery

Damn I haven't updated this for a while as I've made a couple changes. Will get some more pics but for now, this

After some recent unusual transmission noice I decided I best get it looked at before the box goes bang.
So out came the box for inspection

Friend of mine works for local transmission company for many years and just about to start out on his own so for I let him have the box to give it a good inspection.
No fault was found and I cast my own eyes over it too and just nothing seemed to be wrong.
So I gave him the transfer box too. That too came back with no fault so he stuck the lot in the washer for a good clean.

I gave it a lick of paint but forgot to take pics before it was back in the car so here are a couple close ups. Just looks better in the background now
