Hi there, my stereo knackered out in my Evo 5. So I went and purchased a new 1 today, but the problem that I'm having is that the old connector was 16 pins (from a Clarion head unit) and the connection on the back of the new head unit is only an 8 pin (Philips). I have looked about the internet but not been able to find an adaptor to convert it to the new stereo.

This is the 16 pin connector:

this is what it went in to:

and I need to convert it to this:

If anyone knows where to buy an adaptor, I would be so grateful. Thank you all for your time :)

You will find it in halfrauds I would guess, if not I would be inclined to just hard wire it in with ball connectors

I picked up my stereo from my local Halfords today, as they have a pretty good sale on at the moment. When in there, the bloke that deals with all that, said that the sell them, but not for imports. I had a look at the wiring behind the stereo and I haven't got a clue what was done previously, as there are already 2 different adaptors on there and I'm not the best when it comes to this kind of thing. I will have a shop about and if I have no luck, then I will get someone to wire it in for me :D

Imports are no different, halfords employ people that dont know anything and BS there way out of situations like that.

Id try another retailer, there must be a specialist audio shop in your area?

Yeah, I kind of knew he was talking nonsense but I didn't want to argue in the shop. I will have to use my friend 'google' to find any local places. I've never come across any in my travels, but there usually are one or 2 kicking about in towns/cities :D
