Hi, i understand a car is worth what someone is willing to pay but generally the owners and enthusiasts have a better idea about what something is REALLY worth than dealers and sellers, i cant seem to find much info other than Boys Toys and what theyre valuing their cars at.

T reg Evo6
Dark Blue purple ish colour
82K
5 months MOT
4 months TAX
400.1 BHP @ 1.75 bar
Autronics ECU
Evo 7 turbo
Piper fq400 spec cams
Apexi avc-r boost controller
Blitz nur spec-r exhaust
Excedy hyper twin plate clutch
Black Evo-7 wheels
Front Evo7 seats
OMP WRC steering wheel
Tein super street coilovers
Evo8 rear diff

10 owners

No service book BUT has folders with lots of receipts showing a lot of its service history with current owner servicing ever 3-5k, last service was all fluids inc box and diff with filters 1500-2k ago

Word of mouth that the timing was changed about 60K but not 100% sure that this is documented (i dont have the car yet)

Seems to be in general good nick, not a battered example anyway

Everything works inside and no niggly problems that i know of at the min

Anything else im not 100% sure of at the min but off this description whats your ideas on approximate value, fair price, for a private sale.

Thanks :)
Danny

i couldnt tell you mate if im honest, il look in the history but as far as i know its not had any internals strengthened, im not really well up on mechanics but its been mentioned it has stronger head bolts? ARP rings a bell?
Its been at this power with same mods and map for atleast 5 years apparently could be upto 8

If it's running 400bhp without a rod job, it's a ticking time bomb....

Cheers for the heads up mate but im guessing has to of had something done then if this is so risky, its rr printout shows 400.1bhp @ 1.75 bar and has ran this spec for the last 8 years after looking through the history with the only failure being an auxillary belt, a clutch and a diff with AYC repair, nothing engine wise has gone pop with the current owner (3-4 years) and in the history for the previous 4 at that spec. I know its had ARP rod bolts changed if that means anything to you (not a mechanic and useless with spanners so doesnt mean much to me).

400bhp is hardly a ticking time bomb.
Obviously it is putting more strain on the whole car not just the engine but then so is 300 bhp, its been done on so many cars for so long now without issue that I'm surprised at that comment :wtf:.
A rod job now that's a different story, half assing a re build to get a few more bhp only to shift the weak point to another part of the engine that remains std.

I'm led to believe that a standard 6 engine / rods are good for 370bhp ?
There abouts...

J im hoping not lol ive bought it now and picked it up, its been at this power for some time now so id say it either has work done i dont know about OR its capable of this power, either way im happy for now! What is a rod job? is this whats been done to my car by ARP rod bolts? thinking about it he might of said ARP head bolts :/ god knows i dont have a clue other than whats black and white on paper in the history to be honest. If theres any owners meets then maybe someone in the know can look at it and say it has or hasnt got this and that lol

RSVROB - i wish i could help you mate but i cant tell you anything other than it was sold to me as having them. I wouldve just guessed that they are piper made cams meant to go into an fq400 but theres no fact there thats just me reading and guessing, if i find anything in the history around them then il get back to you though (Y)

Its very hard to know what internal work has been done in the past without receipt history and assurances of the work taking place by who did it.
At the end of the day cars are and have run 400 brake for a long time now without issue when at the same time hardly modded ones have failed.
They are all getting on now and no matter how well looked after there is always the possibility of them having enough whatever state of tune they are in.
You just have to enjoy what you have and if it does go wrong deal with it and start all over again :)

Trouble with this car is,if you are un-sure of the engine build/spec,you have to presume it is a standard engine which has had no internal work done! This will have a negative effect on it's value as Billy has stated this is only good for 370/380 ish bhp and is a accident waiting to happen! I would say with no service book,10 owners and a standard spec engine combined with it's mileage i would value you it a round £4500- £5000 max.

More people i speak to the more i believe either this car has had internal work done or this 360-380 number is a myth because its been at this power for a long time now with no issues. either way my fingers are crossed its gonna stay ok lol thanks for your help with the valuation mate.

I don't know the spec of the cams but they could have moved the powerband up the rev range which will make life a little easier for the rods. I guessing that is the case because 400hp on a 7 turbo is damn good going.

you could take it to another rolling road and it may only put out 370 or 380 and that will keep the rod worriers off your back :D

edit. companies used to fit arp rod bolts many years ago to cope with increased power but in the real world they have no relevance.
